Hi, i bought my boots at Ellis Brigham in Milton Keynes last April and they were in the sale then but they only had approx £40 off, which isn't much. My wife found this shop in Leeds that we visited late September last year and she bought hers there for £80!! Brand new Head RRP £180, okay Leeds was a couple of hours in the car but worth the day out for the saving. Check out the website if you're interested - www.seversports.co.uk

Hi all, the wife has just booked us up for next January to Finkenberg, has anyone been recently? We're staying at the Kristall. It's been over 15 years since I last skied in the area, and that was at Hintertux. Any one been recently who can give a more upto date impression?

Hi, thanks for the update, we were in Kirchdorf back in january same week and there was tons of snow so some of our party, especially me are disappointed with the current snowfall!! None of us are quite beginners so I wouldn't have thought the drag lift on the nursery slopes will be much use, is the t bar open next to the alphof did you say? Should be interesting as we skied the steinplatte last year so Fieberbrunn would be nice as we've not been. I'll let you know whether it's snowed or rained when i get back!!

Tony, I can't verify the quality of skiing/apres-ski but the historical data from last year shows 134cm on the top slopes in the last week of march. Given the late start to this season who can say but it looks good. Have fun!!

Mark, you are so right! My wife spent all of this summer buying ski boots from ebay in an attmept to find a pair that fit her. She's 6ft 2 and has large feet for a lady, after 7 unsuccesful purchases we found a shop in Leeds called Severn Sports and spent 4 hours trying on just about every possible make / size combination you could imagine before she finally plumped for a pair of Head (despite insisting she wanted Salomon before entering the store). She has used these a number of times on the dry slope and on the ' real snow' at Milton Keynes and each time reports that the boots feel like wearing a pair of slippers!! So the moral is there is nothing better than taking the time to have a pair of boots professionally fitted. For the record she bought last years model boot for £80 and re-sold the 7 pairs on ebay for a whopping £400 profit, so not all that bad!!!
I hope your boots bring you many years of pain free skiing!! |

Trencher, what you must realise is that ski poles come in very handy, particularly for keeping those little kids from queu jumping in France and they can come in very handy for waving furiously at a snow boarder who has just ran over the back of your skis!!!!!!

I hope you're right Admin Man but the current trend shows freezing levels hovering around 2000m+ over most of the alps, combine this with south to south westerly winds means the first wave of this precipitation will fall as RAIN aaagh!! Fingers crossed the temps drop rapidly throughout next week!!
