B.Barney:

Wondering if you donned the flameproof suit in defense against GLOBAL WARNING, or out of fear of being flamed for saying that "holidays and flights got far too cheap" ?!

---If the latter, then don your flameproof suit back on for a bit, cause I just can not resist the temptation to blow off some steam and flames about this: I wish I could agree with you(!), but at least in my case (living in the US), to go for a one full week ski vacation in a resort of my liking (European Alps, or NW/US or NW/Canada) brings me to a cost of --at the VERY LEAST-- $2500 (~£1600), out of which AT LEAST $1000 is the flight (Boston to Geneva or Muenchen)...

So, don't know about others, but for me $2500 is not exactly an amount I can just drop out of my pocket without really feeling its loss! Consequently, I'd be happy even w/ just one such trib per year (although tw trips would be soooooh much better ;)) ... now if the flights would cost me just arounf £80 (as you quoted your newly booked Geneva fare), then that would be another story: Maybe in such case I would consider to regularly taking 2-3 ski trips per year (which BTW: means the entire vacation-time for most people in the US - I consider myself lucky to get 4wks!).

And I agree with FallingDown: I find it weird to collect answers for this particular survey's questions from 12yr olds (... would you really expect any 12yr old to have a firmly formed opinion about chosing between NZ, Canada, or some othe place in case the snow disappeared from Europe? ... and saying that, it just occured to me that the survey did not list SouthAmerica as a choice.. I'm curios why, because I heard they had decent skiing down there)

No Snapzzz, I'm afraid you are far from alone on that...

When I read Pavel's note, I started feeling guilty, realizing that I should take much better care of them! (hence I promised myself I'll do this cleaning+treating+taping at the end of this season.)

OK, good to hear that: I never thought of giving my skis a treatment for the Summer, so I'll do it this time!
Yes, please PM me that brand whenever you'll get a chance.

Thanks,
Cat

Hi Pavel,

This sounds of interest to me. Could you please give a bit more details about the 'small "towel wrap" for ice skates which cleans/dries ice skate blades and also applies a thin thin film of special rust inhibitors'?
-- I wonder if it's some special material? Or would just cleaning with some microfiber towel and then aply some rust inhibitor spray available in hardware stores might work?

Thanks!

Re Andy's comment about cellphones:
... yes LOL (you could look at it like that -- since I type this from 'work' ... which I shouldn't, but in view of getting better productivity when one's in a good mood - I'll pardon myself for that!)
... so cellphone/US == mobile/UK ... and did you know they call it "handy" in Germany?!?!
... and I'm saying Sorry to Ally (and others) for going way too far tangentially here!!! (Like if my outside edge got caught too deep and it's carrying me away against my will ... just said this to bring myself slightly back to ski subjects :) before Admin would bring the axe)

...Gee, I see that in my last msg the fomatting got messed up! For some reason it looks like when I type while connected via cellphone, typing an exclamation point automatically inserts the following stuff: open-square-bracket, followed by a forward-slash, followed by the word 'quote', followed by closed-square-bracket, and only after all that, followed by the exclamation point! ...looks like HTML markup for ending a quote section? (Now I carefully removed all that and I'm curios if the exlamation signs will look normal )
--- sorry for the tecno-wibble. Maybe others had run into this when using they cellphones: Does anybody know if there is a way to stop various characters from being interpreted like HTML code?

I guess AllyG will tell us soon how many of us replied to her via private messages, as that would be a better indicator ;)

From what I can tell, the SurveyMonkey software might be keeping a log of the identities of the ones who already took the survey; I'm saying that because when I clicked on the link to see if there are any new changes -after I've already taken the survey once- it just displayed their end-of-survey notification page. So, unless people use a different computer when they re-take the survey, I think the total count should accurately reflect the real number of people interested.
