Ok here goes,
I am planning on a ski trip in Jan 10 however as I have no mates (at least non that ski or have the funds) I am contemplating going solo. To avoid horrendous cost of single person car hire any suggestions on resorts that are easily reached from airport train stations, if you could also outline the airport and nearest train station to the resort this would be cool. Thanks in advance to anyone who can spare the time to help. Cheers |

Hi,
I stayed in Valmeinier Jan 2007. Was a poor time for snow however the skiing was still great fun with the majority of slopes open. Didn't see much nightlife as went with the family however i belive there are a couple of clubs mainly frequented by the chalet staff which kick off approx 11 and run through to the wee small hours! Can't confirm how good or otherwise but the guys and girls in our hotel seemed to enjoy it! Hope this helps and you enjoy the snow |

cheers guys all comments most helpful. I guess its just a matter of sorting out flights now and waiting until nearer the time to sort out some accomodation and transport. Have skied in January the last couple of years (Mayrhofen & Valmeinier)after 20 years off and found the snow plenty good enough on both occassions and the slopes relatively quiet. Can't wait to go again
Thanks again Andrew |

Hi,
I'm in desperate need of some skiing however like everyone else profits are way down this year so looking to do it on the cheap. Can get flights from Leeds to Geneva departing Sun 11th Jan for £50 however not really sure whre to go or how to obtain cheap accomodation. Likely to be a mate and I going, possibly my son and I or maybe even just myself. Anyone got any ideas? |

If memory serves me right Tony you provided me with a lot of good info on Mayrhofen last year that led to the hire of the car!

Hi there dont know what airport you are coming into but we had a similar problem in january when we went to Mayrhofen. Easiest option in the end was car hire from Munich airport to the resort.

Hi everyone,
Only 18 days to go till my Mayrhofen trip and I can now smell the snow (at least i think that's what it is)! As I only have four full days skiing and dont know the area I am unsure how best to use the time i.e. am I best to stay round the Penken side or travel further afield. Myself and my group are intermediate skiers. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers :) |
