Hi,
I wondered if anyone can recommend any products, method, best practice to waterproof ski clothes? I ask because I sprayed my clothes with some waterproof product, and it didn't seem to work when I get stuck in rain. My clothes are waterproof in the sense that they didn't let water pass from the outer surface to the inner layers - thus I remained dry. However, the outer surfaces became wet and stayed wet for some time, making me feel colder than I would normally. I wash my ski clothes with normal cleaning products at low temperatures, although I am aware you can buy special waterproofing cleaning products. I can't believe they are worth using, but am happy to be proven wrong. So - I wonder if anyone has some proven recommendations to make re washing and waterproofing? Ta. |

Hello,
I need to buy some new ski gloves and they need to brown; don't ask why - they just do. You think you would find brown ski gloves all over the place, but you don't. I have hunted high and low and even checked out all the stands at the Olympia ski show - to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. |

Hi,
Anyone know of a nice youth hostel, or non-youth hostel, well placed for a nice resort in France? |

Hi,
I went in January. The skiing was good. I'm not sure I would go again though. I found it very difficult to eat well. Restaurants in villages were uninspiring. Restaurants on the pistes varied from average to awful. People still smoke in restaurants and bars which may bother some. Some people also smoke on the chair lifts ... Being a duty free place, a lot of the shops sell tobacco, drink and perfume. Good deals to be had, but these shops seem to govern the feel of the place; there's not much else but these shops. The place has little charm or allure. If all you're interested in is the skiing, then I would recommend the place. |

Hi,
Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy car snow chains? I bought some cheapo ones last year and the poor quality made them unusable - so I need to buy another set. Any recommendations appreciated. |

It is important to be able to move our balance forwards and backwards slightly for different reasons. To do this, many people lean forwards or backwards. This works, but involves many musclses, both in the legs and upper body. I learnt an alternative way of shifting balance which seems to work. When skiing, rather than leaning forwards or backwards, try to move your feet forwards or backwards; this will shift where your weight falls relative to your feet - ie your balance. You only need to use your ankles to make this movement.

Hi,
If the lens is replaceable, my question is what type of lens technology should I look out for and avoid? |

Hi,
I have a pair of goggles that I've used for a couple of years. When not in use, I keep them in their pouch with the aim of protecting them. However, the lens has become quite scratched, to the extent that I'm conscious of the scratches when I use the goggles and look through the lens. So - I need to buy a new pair of goggles. My question is - do all goggle lenses tend to get scratched, or only particular types? If so, what type of lens technology should I look out for and avoid? Thanks. |
