i class myself as a beginer + as i am at the stage where i have this big grin on the face every time i go down a blue but a tightening of the butt at reds ,as i have only skied twice ,alpe deuz ,and soldeu andorra, i still dont know much about sking at all ,but i want to get better and i think the ski,s on your feet is the place to start,im 6ft 2 in old money and 17 .7 stone most of the time, the first time i skied i had 180 heads and although it took 2-3 days to get used to them and snow i think they were fine i actually managed to do a fair few parellel turns with some pidgeon feet in between on the first trip ,andorra was a little different the hire guy thought i should have 188 salomons ,so on the second day took a fall and lost a day and half on the slopes licking my wounds i think the ice had something to do with it (not a good year ),now i want to buy my own as i think the more you use the better the feel a bit like my boots,if i had to say what style i ski i dont know the terminology is but i like lots of turns gradualy building up speed with my confidence, and skiing in austria zell am see feb next year ,any ideas on the length or type of skis ,i have nordic boots size big,

hi 030262 thank you 4 the reply and i will take a look at that site,al though i have spent days surfing the net and have found what seems the easiest way,and for those who may want to go the same route read on,the time table for the bergeland express has not been released yet so the times are a rough guide catch eurostar from london waterloo apx 3.30 pm on friday arrive brussels apx 1900 friday,-----------change to bergland express which leaves brussels apx 20.30 and that will go direct to zell am see arriving apx 11.30 sat morning my hotel can be walked but other destinations can have coach tranfers for apx 30 euro ,the main reason we are going by train is you can ski on the saturday we arrive and also the sat we shall be leaving as the train does not leave until 18.00 hrs , i hope its going to be as relaxing as it sounds ,and we are looking forward to meeting new people at the bar on the bergland express ,cant wait ps can a 6ft --17 stone man use the big foot skis !!

hi everyone , just come back from soldeu+ eltarter 11th march ,we stayed @ hotel euro ski a fantastic hotel only complaint to much head on the lager but we soon changed that, the week was a changable one on the bus going there took 3.5 hrs they stopped just before going up the mountain and it was hot could have taken shirt off! when we got to the border pas d cas was man made snow on piste and nothing each side , it got slightly better as we got to soldeu, sunday we sorted out ski hire ,if you have your own skis i would still hire unless theres a big dump there are still stones and grass patches about ,i tried to find out where to buy boots before we went but got no replies ,so for those who want to buy boots 4 of us bought our boots in eltarter the most we payed was 110 euros size 12 nordics ,steve and his son got 2 pairs of head & solomons for 120 euro,s the pair bags included if there was more snow and all the runs were open andorra would im sure be one off the best, but this year the snow wasnt there ,thats it im off to hospital now i had afall on the 2nd day i rested it for a day then ski the rest of the week after fresh snow on thursday got back to uk a bit swollen in the leg it seems i ripped a muscle and tendons ,and got a dvt having lots of needles and time of work, booking up next years trip now

hi salski thanks 4 the reply ,were off to soldeu andorra sunday 4th, its nice to think im not the only snowaholic,we went to alpe d huez last year had a gr8 time landed at grenoble smallest airport we ever been to,a short story, when we were leaving the hotel in alpe d huez there was a couple geting ready to drive to airport in hire car (not 4 wd) and the guy had put his snow chains on the night before to save time i guess , as they loaded the bags into car( the women with her nose in the air)said you lot will have to move ,we were waiting with cases for the coach in the entrance ,so we all moved there was a good 30 cm snow on the ground ,the guy started the car put it in gear , and nothing chains on wrong wheels , we had to wait another hour for the bus and that poor guy was changing his chains on his hands & knees with madam giving it verb ,not trying to put you off, hope you have a good trip
