It was our first visit to Kitzbuhel, We had postponed it for years due to resort height etc. but during recent ideal snow conditions we decided at short notice this was the occasion to visit Kitzbuhel.
It was the week running up to the Hahnenkamm races 2017, it was impossible to get a hotel in the town. We stayed 3 nights in Rosi's Sonnenberg Stuben, the hotel is 15 minutes by car from town with beautiful views from the mountain side retreat. Taxi to town €25.00. It was a great experience; the accommodation, breakfast, all staff (particularly Rebecca and Victoria in reception) and restaurant for dinner was most enjoyable.
Libor at Intersport Kitzsport was very helpful with ski rental. Aaron from Hungary was my Ski guide/instructor from Rote Teufel ski school - he was great at his job, familiarised me with the ski area and town, an interesting and friendly ski instructor that made even me look good!!
I thoroughly enjoyed my three days skiing, excellent conditions and terrain.
The town of Kitzbuhel is beautiful and vibrant with many fine resturants, great atmosphere, great apre ski and friendly people, we will return again at a less busy time of year.

We then travelled to Garmisch Partenkirchen for two days skiing, it was a more relaxed experience.

Hi folks
I am in Kitzbuhel for a few days with my wife.
Unfortunately, she is injured and will not be skiing.
Anyone around familiar with the area want to adopt a forty+ irish intermediate skier for a few hours? I enjoy a bit of banter and beers and still cover some ground.

Was there 3 years ago.
I would recommend the ski rental shop on top of the Penken lift.
Apres ski bar Bruck N Stadl in town was brilliant.
Favourite restaurant was located in 'Hotel Post' excellent traditional Austrian eatery.
Hotel Maria Theresa very comfortable.
Very nice town, good variety of skiing.
Love Mayrhofen, look forward to going back!!

Thanks for your advice on the outer clothing and goggles.
I like to ski 'red pistes' typically.
We are staying in 'La Residence' self catering apartments very near to town centre.

One of my colleagues is on his third ski trip is a novice, but very competitive and physically fit.
He would like to organise a two hour private ski lesson for the Friday afternoon on which we arrive, can you recommend a good ski tutor with very good English?

Can you recommend a good ski equipment rental shop which is:
A) convenient to the ski lifts?
B) staff that are technically good?
c) where we can leave the equipment overnight?

I appreciate your insight to La Clusaz.

Hi Folks
Heading to La Clusaz this weekend - Friday 15th January 2016.
Was there last year at same time and there was no snow.
However, Significant snow in recent days, and upto 60cm in the next few days. :-)
Should we be just mega excited or What do we need to watch out for?
Having only three days of skiing, not much room for novice mistakes.
Thank you

My wife and I fly from Dublin in the morning, and should arrive in Val D'Isere around 2pm Friday.
Check in to Accomodation, do Ski rental and chillax.
We are really looking forward to discovering the resort/skiing area and feel we have a good head start with the pointers received from you both.
Many thanks

Ski well, eat well, apres ski well, sleep, repeat!!
Bedrock Barney & Andy O Neil thank you for taking the time to give us some tips on Val D'Isere.
It is our first time in Val D'Isere and only a 4 night stay, so it is essential that we have the bones of a plan before arriving.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a very good piste map for Val D'Isere?
I have an iphone, any apps you'd recommend or should we stick with traditional methods on the slopes?

Really Really buzzin at this stage, departing Ireland this Thursday night!
Married early 40's.
We arrive in Geneva on Friday 4th December 2015 and then drive to Val D'Isere.
We have booked an apartment for 4 nights using Airbnb.com located next to Le Laisinant Lift.
We are good intermediate skiers.

We would appreciate any recommendations regarding:
1)The town, must see and do things?
2)Lively bars for coctails/apres ski?
3)Where to get a guide for half day on the first day, approx cost?
5)Where to hire Ski gear?
Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Can't wait to go.
