or in other words : when the Covid gets away in the summer(keep fingers X) and until EU lifts the ban on non-EU countries entering, don't buy holiday to avoid border ban and return.
check as well: because countries outside EU at the moment are not allowed to enter EU because of Covid (UK is OUT from 1st Jan) and unless you are already there or resident or EU national you can not enter EU from UK.If you hold British only passport -I would say double and triple check.
Borovets ski touring and other questions
Started by Bockylee in Bulgaria, 1 Reply, discussing Borovets
in January the snow cover is not that great to worry about avalanches. from Borovets all the way up to the top at mount Mussala 2925m there is good GSM reception(excluding about 30minutes section) so no need to carry walkie talkies. You can climb to the Ice lake and then without skis all the way to top or just take your skis all the way and then ski down toward the lake if capable . When you at at the lake hut -have a look up and decide if it is in your capabilities . It is popular destination so you will no need to fresh track steps on the way up. You can record with drones -there are no restrictions unless on the pistes or on the lift and flying your drone while on the chair lift which is forbidden. NOTE:if you decide to get to the top carry a pair of workers gloves for the last stretch where you have to hold the metal rope . I have done it many times even with normal ski gear ski boots skis without ski skins or lifting heels. Basically you take the last drag lift (or the chair ) traverse accross straight to the Mussala Hut . from there (have a tea drink) and start climbing on the path . 2hrs you are at the Ice Hut and 60 mins (approx) to the top. on the way back is 5 minutes skiing to the Ice hut then 10ish to the other hut and another 10 to the drag or chair lift.there is a webcam from the weather report station on Mussala so you can see the condish at the moment(if visible). here is the link: https://www.windy.com/-Webcams/Bulgaria/Sofia/Samokov/Musala-Sofiya-%C2%A9-%D0%A3%D0%95%D0%91-%D0%9A%D0%90%D0%9C%D0%95%D0%A0%D0%90-%D0%92%D0%A0%D0%95%D0%9C%D0%95%D0%A2%D0%9E-%D0%91%D0%95%D0%9E-%D0%92%D0%A0%D0%AA%D0%A5-'%D0%9C%D0%A3%D0%A1%D0%90%D0%9B%D0%90'-%D0%92%D0%A0%D0%95%D0%9C%D0%95%D0%A2%D0%9E-%D0%92-%D0%A0%D0%98%D0%9B%D0%90-%D0%9F%D0%9B%D0%90%D0%9D%D0%98%D0%9D%D0%90-%D0%9C/webcams/1445001363?42.178,21.940,8

I fly to Fra 9-10 times a season always off the weekends and With hand luggage only cos I keep the stuff at base..
As for the chavsters or not and who is wearing what ,I arrive at the arport 30mins before the flight and always the first flight at 6 or 7am straight though passport and Xrays and head towards the gate and without a wait enter the plane.put my ear plugs on dark sunglasses -on and most of the time I have one hour of sleep.so don't even look who is next to me.sorry.
The same is on the way back but the very last flight.again within 15 mins mas I am outside the terminal.
I have never flown on a weekend though.
But not for that reason.because the Saturday is always the best day to ski because there are not any groups around-everybody has left and we all ski like the locals.Sunday before lunch is similar before the heavy brigades arrive up the mountain but then I start heading back and back to Lyon Chambery or Geneva to catch the 10pm flight.
Once or twice had to wait up to an hour but only in Geneva.
Lyon is perfect every time.
As for parking around Gatwick I found that Off park is brilliant punctual and suits me fine.
And dirt cheap.not the same to be said about Stanstead where it looks like there is a monopol of prices for parking and it is always double of what it is at Garwick. So stuff Stanstead.
Snowjet I think was getting into Chambery Fra but every time when I looked last season their times were only weekends (not good for me) and times were mid days always so I always fly to Lyon with the cheappo (easy is 4-5 flights a day) or Geneva 8-9flights daily which is what you need when you want to hop on for few days 8-9 times a season.
not suprised snowjet looks to get some trade direct with big companies to survive I guess

Borovets - Mount Moussala

Not possible to ski from Mount Mussala.difficult climb 6-7 hrs and then a lot of massive rocks from top to Icy lake so forget it.unless you catch gondola night before. Sleep on top of gondola somewhere there, got lucky with the weather and start climbing very e[/i]arly and hope for good weather on the way down.To be honest if you are not experience climber don't bother.Borovets is not your Alps resort where you can venture somewhere on the side and still join the resort .very limited skiing as listed above you could ski all the runs within 4 hours max.that is if the snow conditions are perfect which is unlikely judging by the statistics for the last 4 to 5 years
