Yes - we're talking about the Sache piste. There are several videos of people ski-ing down it. Here is one of a couple going down it very slowly at the beginning of April - and you can see all the rocks, bumps, and how steep it is.

But I suppose it is encouraging that it was still open then, because we should have loads more snow than this in the middle of January :D

Perhaps I will just STAY in the cafe, and wait for you all to come back

jees was that filmed in slow motion

LOL, LOL, LOL, only now I got to watch that! And I have to agree with Ian's comment :) ... who knows, maybe they were going so slow because they were looking for something ? ;) (like something they dropped in a previous run ?)

Anyway, the piste looks doable; however I'd have to be desperate for some skiing to subject my own skis to that kind of snow conditions... (not that I haven't done it before, but my current skis being relatively new, I guess I still feel a bit overprotective ;) )

I am pleased to announce that I have decided to go on this trip but will need to share a twin room with another person, is that person you?

Brooksy, how about posting a new thread in the "Find a Ski Buddy" forum and ask the same question (providing the link to this thread for details)????

It just crossed my mind that the "Find a Ski Buddy" is one of the forums that always stays "on top", right on the Ski Forum Index list! So there might be a better chance to be noticed by somebody who would be interested. (...By contrast this thread would be found only by people who either have an interest of checking out the "France" forums, or who would scroll down to the bottom on the page to see what were the new threads in the "Latest Ski Chat"...)

You mentioned these "Mini Eggs" before, it got me wondering if you mean the Cadbury Mini Eggs, or is there other meaning?! - especially now reading "cidre and mini eggs" which I thought it would be an unusual combination...

Do you mean the "Sache"? I'm up to trying that, but since I do not care too much for moguls, I might bail out of the bottom part ;)

Well FallingDown, the funny thing is that when I looked at the list under "Latest Ski Chat", your post appeared listed as:

"I Hurt Myself Again by FallingDown 00:22"!!!

...and that kind of made up a complete sentence when it included your chosen forum ID, isn't it?

So, could it be that your recent accidents have something to do with the "FallingDown" name acting like an omen??;) ...Hmmmmm, Maybe it's time to ask Admin to change your ID to NeverFallingDown!!! ;)
I'll join the others saying: Hats off to Ally for tackling a difficult task!!!!

And I am very glad this trip got off the ground!

[trimmed to keep this thread on topic - Adders]

I am really looking forward to go, even if it would end up remaining just a mini-j2ski-group! ... and in the spirit of another ongoing J2Ski thread ("Sleeps to Ski"), I am starting my sleeps countdown: 286 till Jan 13th!!!

Cheers,

OA's post (at 30/03/2012 19:19:24) about the "classification of holiday/part time skiers" simply rocks!!!

Just added my "TopPost" to it! SOOOO ENTERTAINING!!! (genuine too)!

(PS: The only thing bad about this forum is that it's becoming addicting! ... I'm afraid I spent way too much time browsing through so many various posts... a bit similar to starting a new book, discovering you liked it, and not being able to put it down...)

PS#2: I guess I kind of fit between a "4–Intermediate" and "5–Advanced skier", but, ... HEY: I also reckoned I could say that I DO have a touch of "True professional" ...when it comes to building my "Kit" (more about comfort)!!! :D ;), ... ... Again: hilarious classification, OA!!! Trully enjoyed reading it!

-- unfortunately if it was something enforced just verbally [i.e. over the phone when the guy called in sick], then no investigation will reveal anything :( ... so, in such case all we can hope is that the guilty parties will bear the heavy burden of guilt for the rest of their lives and maybe will try to do better deeds in the future!

Regarding the situation with the fuel (described as "STRIKE" by some of you, or "nothing going on / NO STRIKE" by Iceman): God forbid something like that would happen here in the US, where unless you live-&-work in one of the major cities, it is pretty much impossible to get around without having your own car, especially since so many people have long commutes to work... Even for those living in suburban areas and riding the trains to work in a large city, they still need cars to get from their homes to the train stations! (This lack of public transportation was one of the aspects that surprised me the most when I moved here back in '91).

It's scary how dependent we are on the limited-supply oil-based fuel for transportation, heating, etc; I really hope some other alternative [and reliable] fuel solution will become soon available, because the thought of getting close to the time of running out of the current supplies (even if far in the future) is quite stressful!
