What to take up the mountain?
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 28 Replies
Or more precisely, what do I NEED to take up the mountain? It's been a while since i last went skiing so i'm appealing to your charitable advice again! :D

So far I've got -goggles (wear sunglasses usually), hat (buff thing), camera, sun block (not keen on the panda look!), glove liners, a cheeky bar of chocolate and that's just about it.

I don't really want to have to wear a ruc-sack but noticed that some of you do- so what do you take to warrant it? I was thinking about a bbq and some sausages- how cool would that be!

Have I missed something obvious and am therefore likely to die up there?

What would you take for Christmas?

I'm watching this thread with personal interest because I'm away for Xmas this year as well.

Does anyone know if I can take the turkey on as hand luggage? ;)

Hadn't thought about tinsel BTW- great idea.

With all the goals that Chelski are scoring, it can be difficult for neutrals to dislike them.

But that doesn't mean they shouldn't try.
Boot innersoles- advice please

I second that question!

I saw Superfeet in snow and rock last week but didn't want to buy them without checking they'd be worth it. Looks like some more moths will be escaping from my wallet again!

Thanks for all the advice everyone.

Cheers Bandit

I'll give them a better look then.

To my shame, at first i was thinking about some of those gel ones you get from the supermarket!! I was a bit gutted when i googled innersoles and found out they did 'proper' ones and they cost £30! I've now lost count of the number of times i've said "right, we've got everything" only to think of something else and relieve myself of another chunk of cash! Never mind, it'll be worth it.

I haven't ski'd for about 10 years other then an odd few times on the dry slopes, and i'm going away in a few weeks.

During a recent 'dry slope refresher' my feet were aching a bit so i was wondering about getting some innersoles for when i go away.

Is this even possible with rental boots (i've seen that innersoles are 'cut to fit' ) or is it even worth it (30 odd quid +!!)?

BTW i do plan on getting my own boots but seeing as its the other half first time skiing, i need to check she gets on with it and that we'll be going regularly- she better had!!

Any advice would be great- cheers
Just looked at the forecasts again- kind of answered my own question as it says upper and lower slopes!

Maybe min and max temperatures means high and low slopes as well. Anyone?
don't know how to tell you this but i was watching that webcam and they only had them firing for a short time, there was no snow accumulating so i assume they were just testing them :(

Damn those pesky Andorrans!

Does anyone know where the J2Ski snow forecasts/ temperatures are taken from in terms of altitude?

Basically i'm hoping that answer is 'the village' so its actually colder further up.

Or is this just wishful thinking?
