Just back from Alpe d'Huez last night and feel for everyone who has just arrived in France, or had planned late season trips and also the thousands of resort staff and business owners and their staff.

I saw some comments earlier in the week that resorts were taking precautions to halt the spread of coronavirus. I can only speak for Alpe d'Huez, but I saw no evidence of that anywhere on the mountain or in the shops, bars and restaurants.

Why this decision wasn't taken on Friday is bloody ridiculous.

Making my first visit to Alpe D'huez in the spring and staying at Hotel Le Christina from March 3rd. Anyone know which ski-hire shops are nearest to our accommodation.

I always stick up for Andorra when the ski snobs stick the boot in for no reason, but your review is good. Just one fault I found though was saying you skied a black that would have been a blue in other resorts. A lot of the black runs are in sections so you can dip in and out of them, so you obviously did an easier section of a full black run. Slalom is a classic example of this. Running adjacent to Avet, it has a hideously steep top section, a testing blue gliding section in the middle and a tricky red/easier black finish.

You are right we are struggling to piece it all together. It is way too far to go just for a skiing trip, so we are trying to find the right balance of seeing a bit of America while we are there.

ps I am partial to a game of poker, so I guess I am a bit of a gambler. :)

Our usual ski group are looking at the possibility of a two week trip to the States next year. We were thinking of 4 days in Vegas, 7 in Mammoth and 3 in San Francisco. Any thoughts on best time to go, and our schedule?
