True, but you do not get 99p flights anymore (OK, I know there are limited special offers) that used to be available easily a few years ago

True, I am talking about the overnight powder you can get on the run overnight

I am not brave enough or maybe good enough to go to extreme off piste

So why are they so expensive now?

I recently come across some PDFs from airlines having bought tickets to go skiing and I was paying £50 return to Milan for example and in 2007 I was paying £35 return to Krakow.

I am going to Munich on Wednesday, coming back Sunday and the ticket cost £156. I fly quite frequently as part of work and so looked up air fares paid by my employer and these too are substantially up on two or three years ago

Why, is it taxes?

When I was in my early twenties and used to go skiing with a group of friends we used to end up on the steepest and most challenging runs, which seemed to be favored by most of the group.

Yet my favorite type of run is a long fast run over a few kilometers first thing in the morning through powder, heaven! I do not really care how steep the run is and just as happy to ski green as I am red.

Off piste skiing can be fun too for a short while.

Unless you are skiing a lot perhaps better just to rent.

I know, people tell me this all the time and having rented skis out in the past I agree. Yet I like my skis, I know them well and there is something about them that the skis I have hired did not have.

Because of the cost of carrage I will be hiring skis on my next trip

Curious?

All my stuff is years old, I bought my skis years ago - 5 years - they were quite expensive although I bought them ex display in summer, same with boots.

And so are all the other things, gloves are the only things I replaced as I lost them.
I think helmets should have pull down sun visors like they do on motorbike helmets
