Amaze myself sometimes being so thoughtful. :D

My Husband suggested something similar to me once...

He changed his mind when I suggested we would have moved by the time he got back.

Go skiing without moi, I don't think so!!! :!:

My bindings were pristine until my son stamped on the back of them to "help me out" of my skis, thanks.....

Queueing at the airport there and back and airport prices...outrageous.

Jobsworth airlines who can't make up their minds about baggage allowances/whether ski boot bag is a dangerous weapon and cannot be allowed in the cabin.

Accommodation you can't swing a cat in that is supposed to be for 6 people (only on a ski holiday would we put up with this). In one "apartment" you had to drop your trousers in the corridor and shuffle backwards into the loo, as when the door was closed it rested on your knees! I thought I was in an episode of Mrs Brown for a while there!

Noisy party goers until 4 am followed by a piste basher under the window at 6am.

Extortionate prices for beer/food etc.

Rude people in the queue at the lifts that like to stand on the backs of your skis.

Mogul fields that are not marked as such so you are committed whether you like it or not!

Apart from that I usually have a good time :-)
Hurray it's finally coming....

I went skiing in the garden last weekend. Didn't go very far or fast (I live in East Anglia and we don't do hills very well) but at least I got to put on my skis.

Then we had a vin chaud to celebrate.
Is 65 too old to try skiing?

I didn't start to ski until mid 40's and it was hard but that is probably because I was so unfit.

I started on a dry slope, just to get the feel of putting boots/skis on and some basic techniques.

The hardest part for me in those first few years was falling over and the bruises I got as a result. My hips were black and blue each time I went. Some padded protective "pants" would have been most welcome (preferably that didn't make my bum look too big). I had to settle for a hot bath and a jagermeister.

I still fall over but not so much nowadays and usually on a steeper slope. So much easier to get upright again and fewer bruises.

Everyone that wants to should try skiing. It is hard and frustrating at first but well worth the effort. It has brought a new dimension to my life and I can't wait for the season to start each year.
Who wears a helmet?

I like my helmet, keeps my head warm, my hair in place and has saved me from whacking myself in the head with my own ski!!

I agree it is a matter of choice as to whether you wear one or not.

However, I do take exception to Tony saying all helmet wearers look stupid, have you seen some of the hats on sale and even more incredible, being worn!!

I'll take my sleek helmet over some goat herders headwear anyday.
