How do you handle skiing on ICE?
Started by User in Ski Technique, 80 Replies
Been a while ; but I see everything is as it was in the past. Must be the first cold night of the pending fall that brought me back here !

In Eastern Canada we make ice our friend. We respect ice but we don't let ice rule us. We keep edges sharp and just cross it without panic or fear ... and also without making any sudden changes in direction. I'm likely more comfortable on ice than on powder!
I know a travel agent who cruised on one of the RCCL ships that had the rink. She said it was way too small for a good skate. But saw a bunch of guys in hockey attire heading for the rink when she was leaving. She didn't wait to hear their comments. You can imagine .....

Hi There Trencher.... been a while but I see you are still at the carving. It has been coming along for me but miles to go to feel the comfort seen in your fluid style. It has been a great season in NS this year. Hope you had the same !

Eljay, we are about 4 hours behind you and these pictures may have helped curb my appetite. But I liked the idea of the vanilla ice cream. In this part of the world maple syrup is like water. Expensive water ... I used to tap the maple trees in the spring and boil it down on the stove.

Happy Pancake Day !!!

Has anyone ever visited any ski resort in Lebanon? Mzaar, The Cedars or any of the others? How did you like the experience ... were they a friendly place or just plain expensive? How was the snow and the daily conditions? Would you recommend a resort there or not? How long a flight from the UK to Lebanon? Easy connections? Just curious.

Thanks, Mike

Wow ! Some people have more than their share of balance !!

Makes me want to pump up the tires and go attack some trees in my back yard.

We have seen the UK motorcycle team - The Imps - in Halifax at the N. S. International Tattoo (and these guys are amazing) but this guy "on his bike" blows them away. It looks like he took the phrase literally!
