Brilliant thanks for that. Looking forward to it, this will be my first trip to Chamonix. Are there any places we should head for at night (about 8 mid 30 year olds - there are some older but they can be young for this trip!?)

What is the latest? I am off there on Saturday. I know there has been a bit of a spell of warm weather recently. How has this affected the snow? Is there a snowfall predicted?

I always without fail book the flights with EasyJet as soon as they come out - normally Mid Summer. This time I did return to Geneva from Liverpool for about £55 all taxes in. Leave it later you are in danger of it costing you at lotta money!
I hire a car between 4 of us so cant comment on transfers, is normally a cheaper option. Also allows you to 'drive where the snow is' if the snow is not reliable. In Tignes you can easily drive to Val D Iceman |

60. (or is it 61 as there were 2 56??) When you fall over skis go everywhere and there are no kind fellow skiiers around to pick up your various items of clothing, hat, skis....using them as a handy tool to fish everything back! Iceman |

I find the depth readings on this web site a bit 'far out' to say the least. Yes it will snow....but maybe half it at least
Sorry to piss on your snow. Have a great time you lucky git I have to wait another 3 weeks until i go (for the 2nd time this year) :( |

I am a skiier - just to get the record straight before I start. Some very valid points have been made in this thread so far.
My point is that you will get reckless people of any age on ski/board. This year in Tignes I was skiing on a long green, really nice and wide. While I normally ski red/black, on this occasion I was with an inexperienced friend. I stood on the SIDE of the piste. About 30 seconds later a skier going full pelt, tucked down with arms behind his back decided to ski into me (prob doing about 40mph). He threw me up in the air and landed on my back. He said it was my fault and refused to apologise! I have also been wiped out by a boarder in thick fog who was probably going too fast in the conditions. At the end of the day there are some great boarders and skiers but not so great also. I believe boarders get a bad name. Yes they do sit in front of chairlifts, but skiers have a tendancy to stand at the exit of a lift - just as annoying. So lets all play nice together :) Oh, by the way, many of my boarding mates are skiing when we go to chamonix in march - it must be the cool thing to do now :D Iceman |
