Having watched from a safe distance, I suggest the thread ought to be entitled "Don't follow Tony-H when trying to negotiate off-piste traverses in knee high snow"

Or something like that!

Thoroughly enjoyed your's Kim's and Rob's company and hope to do it again sometime.

Cheers

Snow Situation in Sauze

The snow over there is excellent right now and the guys over there really know how to look after the stuff.

I was there in March with TonyH and although we had no new snow and it was fairly warm at times they still managed to use the snow cannons and every morning the pistes were groomed to perfection.

(It was absolutely belting down on the morning of our departure however. Thanks.)
4 Days skiing from Mayrhofen

Hi

The Penken area ought to be sufficient for you for 4 days, unless you really want to cane it!

By the time you have taken in Horberg, Larchwald, Gerent and gone up the cable car from the bottom of the Horberg area you'll have done plenty of skiing.

There is also the option of skiing to Finkenberg if you fancy going further afield, without taking any time out of your day "travelling" as its all skiable. Katzenmoos is a particulalry enjoyable run in good weather.

Have fun!

Ski in Mayrhofen via Salzburg - Doable?

Hi

I do this trip once a year and its dead easy!

SAlzburg to Mayrhofen is 2.5 hours at the most on the train and you change once at Jenbach, getting on the little valley train which takes you to Mayrhofen. There are at least 5 trains per day, quite probably several more than that.

If I were you I'd have two days skischool. There are 4 to choose from, but the one I know best is Schiscule SMT. They have a fantastic reputation and you can book by the day.

Good luck - pm me if you want to know more!!

Ski boot adjustments

Hi

Double Canting will allow you to align yourself properly in the boots. Get someone to check how your ankle line up with your knees - ideally they will be in-line, but if not the canting adjustment will alter the angle of the boot which will pull the knees directly over the ankles. Basically means your skis will be flat on the snow and you will get proper distribution of edging etc when you ski.

The flex adjustment will make skiing on harder/softer snow easier. Just switch the setting. Typically hard in morning and soft in the afternoon as the piste warms up and softens in the sun. May also be asier to walk in the soft setting?

The rear cuff adjustment, if anything like mine, will mean you can effectively alter the amount of forward lean. I don't have Head boots, however, so am not 100% certain. You may also be able to alter it for comfort according to your calf length and size.

Supermacro adjustment sounds like "in-between" adjustments for the clips - typically by twisiting the clip in either direction (forward and backward) to achieve ultimate settings.

I hope this helps you! Also check the Head Ski website.
