Planning for 2016/17 already

We had a really fantastic week in Megeve in 2015 - yes it's expensive if you want it to be, yes it's lower than some other resorts. But there was way more than we could manage in a week (all decent skiers who are out all day) and I would very happily go back.

I've just paid our deposit today for an apartment in Serre Chevalier next February - looking forward to it already :)

We've got an apartment in Monetier - just a short walk from the Bachas chair. As we're still tied to February half term my preferred way up the hills is always via chairlifts - always end up being less painful than cable cars! Really looking forward to it already...!

Diary of a knee injury

Nelly my one and only ski injury was similar (but not as severe) in that a child came off the lift behind me and took me down, with both knees going in different directions. I was very lucky (particularly as I'm a long distance runner so knee injuries are what I dread the most) in that nothing was torn but it did take a good long time to recover. What helped me the most was seeing a sports physio - yes I had to pay for it but it was significantly more beneficial than the NHS, who often don't understand sports injuries.

Really hope you make a full and speedy(ish!) recovery. One thing to watch out for is overcompensation on your non injured leg - this came back to haunt me this year and some osteopathy has sorted me out - I should have done more strengthening stuff as I recovered really.

One. Off through the tunnel tomorrow night then an overnight drive down to Alpe d'Huez - can't wait.
