Surviving the hospital stay

Tehehe I don't know if this is a legal posting but, I pasted the time in Austria by pulling rocks out of my wounds and flicking them over another patient and out the window :D After reading Pavel's stuff I decided to have more fun. Make sure you have access to a button down shirt 1. Prevents them from ripping/cutting your shirts opens. 2. When you've gotta whiz you've got something that will cover you ass. 'nother good tip maybe to take critical drugs with you, you don't know if you'll need access to them. Hell they may need to have an intern drive from Schwaz, Austria to Innsbruck (yes that did happen)

What's #25? I just got myself a new 2008 model Karbon and it's nice to walk around the good ol' apartment in, and has all 24 ( don'r know what 25 is) on/in it and it only ran me around $210. I'm pretty new to this whole style thing? Why does it matter if it looks good? if it keeps you from freezing why worry? (ducks behind a chair becuase I know I've opened a can of worms)
How tight should Ski Boot Buckles be?

top o the morin' to ya,

when they are in my boots, yup. This also goes for skating and walking for long distance. Getting back to skiing I usually get nasty stabbing pains on the outside of my calfs; Significantly reducing fun and weakening me out big time

Applied some of my Datawax 'Soft-and-Slippy' to a fellow skiers skis as his skis weren't running too well.

Showed a lady (who claimed to have had a previous lesson but somehow I doubt it) how to plough and control her speed and tried to convince her that as her speed increases and she attempts to plough that she won't actually fly over the front of her skis - never heard that concern before!

More suggestions please...

PS Talking of ploughing - I wonder how many good skiers can plough properly. It's one of those things that you do when you first start and occasionaly when joining the queue at a lift but generally give it no thought what so ever. I though I could plough OK but apperently I do it whilst leaning back. An instructor at the slope pointed this out to me rightly saying that if I'm going to demonstrate a plough then demonstrate it propperly.
How the heck do you plow right!? Please !! I think the correct way of plowing isn't supposed to involve snapping your knee out the opposite way then falling back on it. Would one compare it to plowing when ice skating? ie using your inner thigh muscles instead of knees?

So yeah from my first thread. I wrote that I wrecked big time in Hintertux over the summer. I'm planning on getting back hardcore into skiing. I want to get back but I'm hopping my mind's not gonna chicken out. I'm fixin' to go on trip (with my club) to Aspen over December of this year. Would it be a good idea to hit the small resorts around my place to see how I'll react? To add to this I fully intend on going back to Tux a year from my wreck and meet with the guy that saved my hide. I personally feel I owe the glacier for not taking my life *shrugs* I'm just not sure

mikey111k wrote:Well i understand what you guys are saying about the poles but i was thinking of the biomex support because for what i understand the support is on the top side of your hand to help limit hyerextending the wrist. Also i liked this style because the wrist guards are removable so if they do become annoying she can remove them and just use the gloves. She needs new gloves anyways because when she hurt her wrist they had to cut her glove off so even if they dont work then she can just use the glove. Does anybody have any other ideas about protective gear. I heard of skiers wearing knee braces such as what volleyball players wear. Does anybody recommend any kind of knee support.
Heck yeah Mike, I wear two Donjoy braces and I love em to death. My knees don't torque in them thus making me happy. Hope you girl has a good time! What in the sam's hill are Impact Shorts?
