When I flew out of Stanstead I was surprised to find out how close my bags were to the maximum weights permitted by Ryanair.
This was in spite of seeming a couple of kilo's beneath when weighed at home. (I would admit the scales at home have only had a Heath Robinson calibration against proper swing arm scales at bodyweight) The same bags with roughly the same contents all weighed in much less at Graz where the check in was done by independant airport service. I may have been weighed in on rogue scales at Stanstead. Do airport scales have to be calibrated? If not is it a means of squeezing overweight charges when people panic at check in? |

I was surprised at the size of case Ryanair allowed in the aircraft at Stanstead - normal sized suitcases.
I would not have been happy if my small bag had had to go in front of my feet so a ruddy great case could go over head. Coming back from Graz the handlers were more strict on hand luggage size - making the big cases be checked in. |

I left my daughter's skis at the bottom of the gondola on the last day in Kreischberg.
Apparently it was me that left them - I should have loaded them into the hire car while she wandered off shopping! That's 14 year olds. They were all alone in the rack when we drove backto the Gondola station! |

I'm with bandit - Andorra is a great destination for a second week skier. (That's where I went for my second week on the snow)
I would suggest Soldeu/El Tarter/Pas De La Casa in the Grand Vallira - Andorra linked these resorts together quite well to create a large ski area. (Rather than Arinsal which is quite small) The Gran Vallira has lots of blues to practice your technique on & the ski school is highly regarded. The pistes tend to be well groomed - which is a boon in your early stages - a ploughed up piste may be challenging but isn't fun for an inexperienced skier. As your confidence grows there are enough more difficult pistes to test you as well as keep more experienced skiers happy. The pistes are well signposted & essentially they all drop into the same valley so if you get lost or knackered you just get the bus that runs up & down the valley back to where you are staying. |

Can you do a snow dance please as I'm going out on Monday week?

Thanks Dave - looks like the thaw starts earlier in Beaver Creek than Whistler.
