I've been in Schladming and Bad Gastein last week and the snow was great, specially on the pistes.
It is warming up now but I think it will be good for another few days easily. |

Wagrain as base will be more central and easier to get to Zauchensee (best place in the area by far).
Gondolas to Flachau mountain or on the other side of the village to Wagrain/Alpendorf mountains. |

For transfer you can use: http://www.huberreisen.at/e-online-flughafentransfer.html
It is fairly cheap at 41E return and they will wait for you at the airport and pick you up from the hotel after the holiday. Very efficient and we used them 3 times. They may ask for bank transfer at the beginning but if you email them thay will take credit card or even let you pay cash to the driver which is much more convenient than bank transfer to Europe. Full list of options here: http://engl.salzburg-airport.com/anreise_840.html Regarding the ski pass it will take you only a few minutes to buy this next to the gondola. Easy. I have to say it was much quicker than usual waiting for rep etc. |

How long is the trip?
I would go to Ischgl in Austria, it's high, big, very modern lifts, superb apres ski, snow-sure, and you can ski down to Switzerland - Samnaun. They both share ski area and Samnaun is duty free. http://www.ischgl.com/en-ski-vacation-tyrol.htm Look at the piste map - very impressive. If you staying for 2 weeks then you can easily move to St Anton or Lech for second week. It is short bus/train ride from Ischgl. It is another superb Austrian resort. Good apres and amazing off piste. There are other places you can change over - Zillertal valley, Laax, St Moritz etc. |

Haven't been there yet but did lots of research. Apparently the runs back home can get busy and bumpy in the afternoon when everyone is heading back. It is not like they are that difficult.
Ischgl is very high and they normally have good snow even in December. I would say second week in January is relatively quiet so maybe the runs won't be this bad. Personally I have no problems with downloading in the gondola after the hard day on slopes. It is usually wise as you are tired and the run is busy. No point to spoil the day at the very last minute. Ischgl has very, very good reviews so is definitely worth trying. |

After recent snowfall glacier looks quite good

Hintertux should be a good option for you. Their official winter season starts in October so I believe they might have a lot open by November. If you thinking of renting a car you could combine this with Stubai glacier. It is not that far away and usually good for early season. More cuuisy terrain and modern lifts up top.

Look at this piste map it tells you all:
http://www.flachau.at/pdf/panorama_salzburger_sportwelt.pdf As you can see on the piste map Flachau mountain is all lift connected, but if you want to ski the other side of Wagrain-Alpendorf you have to take short bus ride 5-10min. It is very easy though, bus is waiting on the bottom of gondola and will take you quickly to the bottom of the other mountain, no problem at all. Another time you need the bus will be to get to Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl area. You catch the regular buses on the main road and it is not more than 10-15min. Easy. According to Bergfex, Flachau is 111km (I doubt it is that much, they must have included neighbours), Zauchensee 41km, Flachauwinkl 18km, Wagrain 35km, Alpendorf 32km.... (Wagrain and Alpendorf are lift connected!!!) http://www.bergfex.at/flachau/ The whole area is amazing, lots of cruisy slopes. |
