Schladming - World Cup Slalom Week
Started by User in Austria, 1 Reply
We're thinking of going to Schladming at the end of January next year; the only week we can go is the week of the World Cup slalom race. Has anyone stayed in Schladming the same week in this or previous years? If so, what impact did the event have on your holiday?
Lockers in Bardonecchia

Can anyone tell me if there are lockers at the bottom of the lifts in Bardonecchia, particularly Campo Smith?
Just come back from a week in La Thuile and having spent a day in both Courmayeur and Pila I'd vote for Pila. Is staying in Aosta and "commuting" to Courmayeur, Pila and Cervinia an option?

AllyG,

No problems with ski boots but my wife who had her helmet hanging off her handbag (and no other hand luggage) had to force it into a friend's rucksack on the insistence of the check-in person, then we saw several other people with helmets hanging off hand lugagge boarding the plane!
April Skiing For My Wife and I

Good idea acarr, we were in Obergurgl/Hochgurgl in April 2 years ago and the lifts closed early due to the snowing! You need to be high up; St Anton, Lech, Zurs, Ischgl, Sölden and the gurgls.

Just enjoying a beer, then an early night for a 6am flight tomorrow and then a week's skiing in La Thuile ... yippee!
I've travelled by train in Austria a few times. The standard ticket will be valid on any train (well between Salzburg and Schladming in your case). You could just buy one at Salzburg stn when you get there, they price tickets per km not like British co's.

Timeforabeer says "You know where you are but if, for example, the eurozone fell apart and you had 5k on your card, you're stuck with the rate you bought at"

You can use the card in an ATM in Britain and get £'s out, but it's converted at the rate in operation at the time of the transaction and there's a fee (it's the oppsite of using your ordinary ATM card in Europe), so, if the Euro does look falling apart get to your nearest ATM pronto ... as long as it last past my 2 trips this year; next week and early March!
