Incredibly useful thanks. I put my info into the DIN calculator and it gave me a value of 5.5! No wonder my bindings didn't release |

I recently fractured my tibial plateau when I fell awkwardly on an easy blue run. The ski bindings didn't release, which resulted in me dragging my skis with me when I fell and my left ski dug in and torqued my leg in an awkward position. Now as I recover from surgery to insert a metal plate I have lots of time to think. I'm curious about whether the bindings might have been set too "firm" or whatever the technical term is. When renting the skis I was honest about my weight and ability level, not overestimating my ability or underestimating my weight. I want to make sure that when I return to skiing next year (not put off by my accident at all) if I should be asking the hire shop to set the bindings at a particular setting or if it's safe to leave it to their judgement. The setting was between 7 and 8 on a 10-point scale. I took a photo but it didn't come out very clear.
Any opinions out there from experienced skiers? |

Today (28 Jan) brings welcome fresh snow in Passo Tonale but with it poor visibility. The last significant snowfall was 18 Jan and north facing slopes were suffering even in Ponte di Legno, with lots of bare patches at lower elevations. Piste management in Passo has been excellent and the slopes are in good condition thanks to low overnight temperatures but in the afternoons the snow was reminiscent of springtime. Today's new snow brings welcome relief.

You're here same time as us then We did end up hiring from Maestri in the new building next to the ski pass office. We rented a locker. I can confirm the lockers are fabulous and the best money I ever spent. The walk from Hotel Adamello is now a pleasant stroll in normal shoes. It's been mega busy today (Sunday). I suspect lots of locals are here especially from lower resorts. The snow is holding up well here in Passo but lower down even in Ponte Di Legno there's lots of bare patches especially on south facing hills

Last time we went to Passo we rented our skis from Maestri next to the Hotel Sport Vitoria. We were not impressed and in fact complained to Crystal who organised it. Poor quality gear, bindings iffy (husband's ski fell off while we were on a chairlift) Anyway, trying to avoid them this time. Skiset uses Cinto which has a branch on the street behind the Main Street. Looks to be not far from the lift pass office. Anyone got any comments about renting from Cinto? Also do they offer ski lockers to rent? We have heard there are lockers to rent somewhere close to the lifts but I can't find any info. Hoping to avoid the long hike / ski bus from the Adamello which we experienced last time. We're going on Saturday 25th Jan by the way Cheers
