Really looking forward to this. Never skied in April before. Never skied in 3Vs before either. When we committed to this trip the 'wisdom' was that VT would be open, probably in its entirety, and if we were lucky the links to the other resorts would also be open. Looks like we have been really lucky. Dontya just love it when a plan comes off?!!!   . Admin, can we have a 'smug' smiley please? |

I really enjoyed Chatel. It's a bit quiet at night but hey that's France for you in general. Super Chatel is really handy for hopping over the border to ski en Suisse. We had a car so the short drive to Vilapeyron to pick up Le Linga/Pre-la-Joux sector wasn't a problem. Some terrific blues and reds in that area as well as access to Avoriaz where the skiing is as good as anywhere.
The skiing in Chatel, Avoriaz, Morgins and Champoussin kept us occupied for a week so we never got as far as Morzine so I can't comment on its virtues and/or shortcomings. Mind you, I'd probably like it there as well. :-D |

I was curious about 'Tabuc' as we found it totally different to the rest of the runs in Serre Chevalier. Prior to skiing 'Tabuc' we had been bombing about on the area's great selection of blue, red and black runs thinking we were the dog's....
'Tabuc' reminded us that we weren't. :-D. I think it is left un-groomed for long periods of time and the result is an uneven, constantly changing and, for us at the time, quite a challenging piste. I think the French call that type of piste 'ski naturel'.I seem to recall that it went through woodland/forest so it was also very scenic. I was a little pre-occupied in trying to keep it all 'shiny side up' to appreciate the views but I would love another crack at it now. |

That looks ace! A couple of workmates keep on pecking my head about Glenshee for sneaky mid-week break. Gotta get Val Thorens out the way first;-). If the snow sticks around till mid-May, this could be the year.

Top report! You certainly got great conditions. Mind you, this has been a great year. Did you ski the black 'Tabuc' run down to Le Monetier, and if so, what was it like in powder?
