Val Thorens 9th April
Started by User in France
Based on cost E270.00 and the flexibility I think we will hire a car.
Can anyone recommend a tour guide (skier), for half a day to give us an introduction to the various slopes/trails available to us, some history of the area, recommend resturants and give us the do's & don'ts???
and what would/should this cost approx???

Folks,
I very much appreciate your experiences and enjoy your 'frank' comments...
Yesterday, My wife and I quite impulsively booked Val Thorens (based on altitude and variety of trails) for 3 or 4 days skiing from the 9th of April.
It is over 2 hours from Geneva Int Airport, any recommendations on how to travel to Val Thorens???
Bus transfer, Taxi Transfer, Rent a car???

flying to Geneva on April 9th, thinking of heading to Avoriaz for 4 days as its only one hours drive.

Would like to hear from anyone who has been there, getting mixed reviews on it. Looking for good intermediate skiing.
Thanks
My wife and I spent one week in Breckenridge from Feb. 10th to Feb. 17th 2010.
We travelled from Dublin to Denver via NY with Continental airlines.
We struck it lucky with our accomodation in " Main Steet Station". The location, Quality, Services and Staff were all top class. Proximity to ski lift was very good ie. walking distance.
Breck is a lovely town, lots of nice restaurants and shops. Our favourite was " Steak & Rib" and of course our morning stop at Starbucks all added to the experience.

We had a super week, the skiing is top class, we did Peak 7,8,9 and 10. We have been skiing for the past 8 years in Europe and East Coast USA. Breck was a level up from these.
We hope to return to Colorado some time in the future.

We are hoping to squeeze in a 4 day trip to France from April 9th to April 13th, is Chamonix a good option for intermediate skiing this late in the season??????

Considering flying to Geneva from Dublin on 9th April.
We are looking for intermediate skiing within 2 hours of Geneva.
We have looked at Les deux alpes and Saas Fee.
What are your thoughts? / recommendations?

15th November to 19th Nov 2011

My Wife and I recently had a very enjoyable trip to Neustift.
The weather was beautiful, warm and blue skies.
Snowfall was very poor, but enough coverage on the 'Glacier' for us to brush up on our skiing techniques.

The ski resort/company logistics/services were very efficient.

We had a most enjoyable stay, in the comfortable, clean, friendly accomodation in the middle of town at 'Schonner Haus'. the bar downstairs was one our favourites in the town.
Our best food experience was in 'the camping edelweiss restaurant' in the next town towards the glacier 'Volderau', excellent quality steak.

Would definitely go back again.
Our next trip is Breckenridge, Colorado on 8th Feb 2012.
Cannot wait....
First time to Neustift - Here is the plan.

We arrive in Salzburg on November 15th 2011 and then drive to Neustift.
We have booked into the 'Schonerr Haus' hotel for 4 nights.
We are good intermediate skiers with no interest in 'black runs'.

We would appreciate any recommendations regarding:
1)The town of Neustift and things to do and see?
2)Thing to do and see near Neustift?
3)Relaxing resturants to eat well in Neustift?
4)Lively bars for coctails/apres ski?
5)Long downhill intermediate ski trails, where to find?
6)Where to get a guide for half day on the 1st day (good
english), and cost?
7)Where to hire Ski gear in Neustift?
Any other recommendations would be appeciated. :?: :?: :?:
