Good Luck to all those jetting off tommorrow. I have easyjet flights from LPL to Nice shouldn't be a problem except Easyjet seem to be cancelling flights here and there for no apparent reason.

Admin, thanks very much for this. I hope they manage to find enough coins to feed the meter prior to Sunday which should be my first days skiing.

At least the worry concerning the electricity has replaced the concerns regarding whetjer or not we'll be able to get from Leeds to Liverpool airport as a result of the snow!!

I'm off to Isola 2000 on Sat and have therefore been checking webcams,weather etc for the last couple of months?

For some reason everything seems closed today. All the lifts in resort are shown as closed and I can see no one on any of the slopes! :(

The weather seems OK, viability seems good, wind seems low. Any suggestions why the resort is closed could it be avalanche risk?

I'm sorry if this has been done to death on previous threads however I got to page 3 of quite a lot on the ski hardware pages and gave up searching!

I've finally decided to put the safety aspect first and feel I should ski in a helmet when I go in January. What I need advice on I guess is a) Can I and should I simply hire a helmet in resort and b) if not any suggestions what I should buy or what important aspects I should consider (also what sort of cash I should be looking to spend)?

Hope some of you can offer assistance.

I have 19 sleeps until I fly out to Southern French Alps and 20 sleeps until I can hit the slopes.

Had an hour at Xscape Castleford last night just to get me in the mood.

If it wasn't for the kids I'd be wishing Xmas was over and done with Bah humbug!

I have just been checking the forecast for Isola 2000 (Southern French Alps - I,m off there on te 9th Jan)and was surprised to see the max temperatures quoted for Sat/Sun & Monday afternoon of this next week are -17, -12 & -10 respectively.

Is this unusually cold? I had heard the resort was meant to be "cold" however I assummed it wouldn't be any colder than any of the previous ski trips I've enjoyed.

My targets for the season,

To try and ski more than the one week

To try and ski in Scotland (which I haven't done for 20 years)

To try and let myself go on the ski's a bit more (without endangering myself or anyone else)

and lastly to have a few lessons which I haven't done since I was 15
