Gary, I think we're going to hire a car as public transport is hassle and takes ages and the taxi quotes we had were daft!

I'll file a report on my return!! (12 working days and counting...)

Gary, here's the Pension http://www.alpengruss-tux.at/

If you go on Google Earth you can see its smack bang opposite the Eggalmbahnen gondola - skigear on, bacon sandwich in the top pocket, off we go!

15 more days work, and counting......

Thanks all, I can't wait!

Evidently the Eggalm gondola station is 30m from the front door of our 'Pension'. I'll do a quick report when I get back, we're paying EUR57/night half board which seems pretty good to me and Easyjet flights to Innsbruck.

I've heard there will be a foot of fresh snow the day before we arrived followed by 3 days of cold, calm air and sunshine :-)

Mrs Johnski96 and I have sorted ourselves 3 days in Lanersbach in early March.

Does anyone have any 'tips' on the skiing, bars and restaurants etc??

It looks ideal!

Thanks
Johnski

Another problem with POV headcam is the time taken to edit out all of the 'accidental' views of ladies bottoms in tight skipants - they always seem to get in the way....

All, I wanted to upload a clip from the X170 thingy, but evidently you need to host the clip somewhere other than the harddrive, bla, bla - too complicated!

Its very good though, as long as you take a minute to get it aligned to your own line of sight, it seems to avoid the skyshots very well. I'm really pleased with it and the 170deg wide angle lens helps too. Definitely better than holding the digicam in a wayward left hand.

There's a review here http://www.actioncameras.co.uk/X170

PS - planning a few days in Serfaus in March, anyone been there?

28 years for me!

February 1982, school trip to Artesina in Italy. The Jam (Town Called Malice) and Stranglers (Golden Brown) number 1 and 2 in the charts. Top songs, top bands - first week away from home and first time in love - with skiing! Also discovered "frogger"!

Done a few since then!

God I'm getting old!

Having been disappointed trying to take video with a camcorder whilst skiing, I bought myself a little Christmas present this year.

Its a "Drift Innovation X170 Action Camera". Basically a compact, robust little video camera that comes complete with a clip that goes on your goggles strap or a headband or can be fixed to a helmet. It has a simple wireless remote control and a wide angle lens to give a sense of perspective and speed. The results are great, especially when strapped to my boot to give a worms eye view of the piste!

Well worth £200 if you like that sort of thing.

And no, I don't work for them!
