Actually, I don't know which season these photos were taken, but not this current one, I think! 2008/09 will have gone down in the records as an exceptional year for snow, when it was possible to ski through November to early May in many places in the Pyrenees. The weather has been very warm again this week, and any new snow will be struggling to stay put. It's due to get colder again at the weekend though and some new snow should fall, hopefully. Longer term, it would be nice to have a few days serious snow before you visit, to allow off piste skiing. The snow cannons will keep the main runs in good condition, whatever the weather. It's still two weeks away, so keep your fingers crossed. |

Yep, seems you are right Pablo. I Googled the story after an Italian friend mentioned the problem , other reports also say that it's internal flights in Italy that might be affected.
Just me adding a new Ryanscare then, sorry! ) |

Because I read that they are planning to suspend flights to/from Italian airports after 23rd January due to a new security requirement. :(

Like the M+S bit, Admin ! Yes, The winter tyres were a new experience for me when I moved to Euroland, and actually will slip and slide and make a bit more noise than summer tyres, due to the block design and deeper tread. The big difference comes with the winter, where the same compound that lets you loose traction easier in dry, warmer (above 7 deg C) temperatures can stop you 50% quicker in the slush or snow than a standard summer tyre. PS: WINTER M+S tyres have an mountain with a snowflake icon on their walls. Standard M+S are not winter tyres! |

Not the first place you might expect to find something like heated gloves, so take a look at Maplin, and especially at the price!

Looking out of the window, the clouds are back and more snow is forecast for the Pyrenees tomorrow, Thursday and Friday... which happens to be opening day! :-)
