If you are learning to board, you won't need an all-singing all-dancing resort. You will probably only touch on a fraction of the ski area in your first week.
What you need is a board friendly ski area with minimal or no drag lifts (these are the last thing you learn). Not too steep, with wide runs. Most ski areas fit this bill. But most are also very big; beware the lift ticket prices - no point paying for acres and acres that you will not use.... |

Did a season there 2007 so here goes...
Great resort when it snows. Lots of off-piste. The front face is wide and steep so you can ride/ski it all day long with freshies and it's right on the doorstep of the village. If it dosen't snow it has a bit of a motorway feel about it. It's high with a glacier so good snow record. Excellent snowpark. Town is a bit in-yer-face with Brits abroad but some gems amongst it all (Tribeca pizza as good as anywhere in the world), Crepes-a-go-go (ignore the naff name and get it in there). Had a comedy night in The Secret once a week which was a hit. Pricey, but where in the Alps isn't... |

After boarding for years I just couldn't bring myself to put on those godawful heavy ski boots to have a go at skiing...

Go road trippin' in the US - you are much more likely to be picked up for work with your accent that you are in overrun Europe....
