Dog sledging!
Actual sledging! (so you can still enjoy the nice fluffy stuff!)
Snow shoe walking (like big lacrosse sticks on your feet!)

Day trip to Annecy or Geneva for "real" shopping

There's also a Casino, a bowling alley with pool hall, and a cinema.

Happy days - best place really for a non-skier, very few resorts have this range of non-skiing activities!

have fun!

All of that sounds excellent. My OH and my mate's OH are ony skiing for 3 days out of our week in chamonix.

Have you got any specifics on the things you mentioned?

seems lots of them do. When are you going?
I took my OH for 6 hours of lessons on a dry slope yesterday in preparation for our holiday at the end of the month.

She did OK, but took quite a few spills which obviously knocked her confidence. On one occasion she took a hefty knock to the upper side of her elbow joint and bruised it, resulting in a lot of tenderness today.

In the past she has broken both her elbow and one of her knees, so I think protection may make her feel a bit more confident. She also has the boniest, pointiest elbows in the world, which tend to get hurt and be sore if she knocks them.

Is there any decent protection at reasonable prices?

My other option is to buy some kids mountain bike pads (she's only little), but I'm not sure if mobility will be compromised it she was to wear these. I think they should be OK, but would welcome any opinions.

btopstar wrote:Hi there,

We just got back from Chamonix and the drinks prices varied in different bars but on average you have to pay about 5.50 EUR for a pint. There is a nice bar in a hotel near the main square (before SUPER U supermarket) with live bands play every day and they do après ski happy hours.

Enjoy your time!

Can you remember the name of that hotel? Sounds just the thing we need.

If the average is 5.50 then that must mean some are less, yes?
