Snapzzz it's not you! Your just like any parent!! They want the best for there kids and they want to enjoy time on the slopes together as a family. I am no different my son is 6 and has now skiied for 3 years and also skis weekly at castleford and he has only now started to parallel but If he picks up too much speed or thinks its to steep out comes the trusty pizza shape and that is because that's the first thing he was taught to slow down. My biggest problem is his mum!she can't get it into her head that because it's a red doesn't always mean its steeper than a blue! It could be narrow in some parts or slightly steep at the start for instance but now my little one has picked up on this he just says I am not skiing that cos its red!! (mum says they are steep) when I learnt to ski some 20 yrs ago I did not look at piste markings I just concentrated on getting down it!!!

End of the day! Andy is right its about making it a fun holiday cos if the little ones say they don't want to go it would be a nightmare !!! Just enjoy it and be patient with your daughter she will conquer the parallel sooner than later !!!

Hi all I bought kombi jon olsson gloves last year in black they are a leather outer shell and are awesome. I have some ice breaker merino liners if it gets really really cold but as of yet liners still in packet. The leather on these gloves is so soft and the gloves are so nice fitting ie not bulky etc. iblack.http://www.snowfit.co.uk/product/Clothing/Mens/Gloves/KOMBI/JON-OLSSON-SUPREME-GLOVE/-9373

Hi. It's not a ski school recommendation but I would seriously look at ski esprit because as a family skiholiday company they take it to another level. Little things like they have there own staff on the slopes with the instructors to take little ones to toilet, wipe their noses etc. Not the cheapest by any means but quality and I am a believer that if your little ones are warm and enjoying themselves then we enjoy ourselves. A little food for thought. Russ

Hi yalug, we are also staying in ellmau week 21st jan in a chalet with our friends and our little lad. Hope some other people can shed some light on ellmau but I have heard it's pretty easy to get around the village and the slopes are pretty beginner friendly. Might see you there!! Probs in same chalet I think we are staying in hartkaiser chalet what about you!!

If I was you I would use some old gloves coz the nursery slopes often use a rope type lift system which will rip your new gloves to shreds!!!
Hi you will find plagne1800 a great base to ski to and from there is a 4 man chair opposite chalet rose (which you can ski down to once you have crossed the road) and that will take you straight up into the main ski area.

There is a spar supermarket in 1800 and a take away pizza place, we never ate out we just grabbed pizzas. The only pub in 1800 is called Le pub and usually has live music après ski which was awesome ( good old sing along to American pie) and this coincides with happy hour. There is an intersport ski hire shop in 1800 and it's pretty decent and in my opinion I would get them there cos if not you will need to take your skis back to plague centre via ski bus and collect them just the same which means carrying outdoor shoes with you after collecting your skis/boots because its a fair walk from bus to ski shop in plagne centre. If hired in 1800 just ski down and drop off on way back to accommodation.

Some great skiing to be had out there especially round belle plagne. Your pals may be better with lessons in morning cos they will get free lift to plagne centre from ski school. My son used oxygen ski school and they are very good indeed if I was you I would give esf a miss if at all possible
Have a great time. Russco
