Mayrhofen Scavenger Hunt...

ha ha, this is great !! 72% was what i was told at the time but i had only been skiing for 3 days so i knew nothing really. my point was really meant to be that it is not as bad as ppl say.

I'd like to see it again if i go back as i'm sure i would think it was pretty tame now.

I was also told that it was the steepest piste in austria... but i know i have done steeper.

I'm glad that it has caused debate.... but the question is why has Mr_Mayrhofen not skied it.... surely you must have skied every piste there a million times.....

The HK is pretty hairy, 72 degrees or sommit. but if you are a fair skier, no prob. I learnt to ski at MH and done the HK in first week - albeit 1/3rd on my arse :)

It's fairly short tho. dont do it when sheet ice tho!!

Tony_H... you have been to MH something like 7 trillion times and not at least done the HK !! lol. Surely there wasn't an air ambulance there EVERY TIME... You have mentioned fresh snow at MH loads of times, so you should have done it by now.

Maybe this year you will pluck up th courage )

your other post mentions handling the terrain..... maye you cant!!

After all the other suggestions, I think it would amuse Tony H the most if you were off to Niederau....

No.....never.....that would be too obvious.....

Heres the thing, right. I got a random PM from someone who uses this forum from time to time, telling me to get a life and go skiing somewhere other than Mayrhofen, and yet there is a regular group of people who make what they regard as their rightful pilgrimage to Niederau year on year.

I think it may have been Dave Mac who said, on here a few weeks ago, that everyone has their "favourite" resort, and often one where they return to time and time again, and there is nothing wrong with that, although I personally also would like to visit many other ski areas. But if it works for you, why not?

Anyway, just thought it was a little odd to have someone I dont know telling me to broaden my horizons. I bet they didnt say that to anyone else.

SO.......Dave, let me guess: The Halfwit or whatever its called in Niederau, yes?

The resort of La Clusaz had already been mentioned - and is perfect for short breaks being under an hour from Geneva.
We have chalet short breaks over the Christmas and New Year period - includes catered chalet, transfers and your full region lift pass.

Suitable dates would be Sat 27th to Tue 30th Dec, or Tue 20th to Sat 3rd Jan - find full details at http://www.skiweekender.com/christmas.htm

Hope that helps...

Paul

No, Paul, it doesnt, as I have already booked, and I dont want to be limited to going on particular dates either, thanks. But cheers anyway, good bit of advertising mate!

Is this the rudest response ever, Tomy_H ?? you are a bit blunt here. he offerred you an option (albeit that you did say you had booked) but other may be interested.

Perhaps you should try it rather than your 8th time at Maryhofen. La Clusaz is a nifty little resort actually... better than MH.

I STIL cant wait for your magazine............ :D

Err, what more does she need to say Tony_H?? she has sent the link, the accommodation details so what more do you need to know?

I use the same service when I go there. I can tell you tony that the seats are comfy, they stop off for loo breaks, the drivers can be happy or sad, the weather is changable, sometimes the windscreen wipers are a bit noisy !!

If there is anything more specific, please ask !!!!!

Cant wait for this magazine.........

Is that a chip on your shoulder I can see?

Eh??!! what chip?

Nope, just that you were simply asking a stupid question - par for the course I guess!
