I was thinking about the £300 jacket in the sale posted a week or two back and wonder how much everyone spends on their ski stuff?

My friends bought new snowboards when we were in Italy earlier this year and I found myself thinking should I be replacing my stuff. Most of it is around 5 years old, I hired some new skis for the day and although they were somewhat better, turning quicker and lighter getting back on my own skis I felt more reassured. They cost me nearly £400 5 years ago and look new, so in the end decided not to.

Same with my boots, £180, they look new so why buy new ones?

I bought a new ski Jacket from Tescos for £16, which is so much lighter then my last one

Even though they are Action cameras they are still easily damaged so if anyone is spending money on one bear it in mind.

If you are going to use the camera in conditions where it is unlikely to get damaged then use your ordinary camera or phone.

You can buy covers for your ordinary camera to protect it from water/damp and so on

Decided to squeeze in a ski trip at Easter and rang round to find a good deal. Every where I rang they told me there is virtually nothing left and what is left is selling quickly so I booked.

Now the holiday I booked is reduced by £135.

I could have bought an action cam for that!

Yes, that is why I am on plan B now. We had plans to convert ours to LPG or diesel, but found it would cost a lot. However it had an air conditioning system that ran on diesel. Also we found most sites would not allow such a large vehicle or if they did they wanted double or treble fees and AA did not want to help when it broke down (which it did every time we brought it out).

I guess it would be cheaper to buy an apartment in a ski resort.

Anyone lived in a camper van or motor home while skiing?

A couple of friends and I bought a very old, very big American motor home last year, with the intention of spending a season on the slops.

Now I am on plan B and looking at something like a transit for next year.

Absolute rubbish. I could film better on mu iPhone

The Go Pro is a really good camera

Correct. And because most phones have half decent cameras nowadays, no one is buying cameras so you can buy a really good digi for under £100 now too.

Comparing the Ramos to a GoPro is like comparing a Fiat Panda to a BMW 5 series, rather silly. The GoPro is over 400% more expensive.

Used to sell a range of action cameras were I used to work, but the trouble was not worth the effort. People used to come in after their holiday claiming their camera stopped working when in fact they damaged it. A GoPro is no better then a £30 camera after it has been bashed on a rock.

You can seriously suggesting you a phone as an action camera in extreme sports?

Turkey has great skiing!

There are ski resorts in Iraq too apparently and India.

Sno.com has Russia listed as a destination but when you select it they do not come up with any holidays, however Russia is supposed to have the worlds best skiing snow conditions.

Anyone skied in Portugal? The lifts were not open this year.
