My summer fitness plan is firmly under way. The planning that is. Well, it's a start.

Wouldn't worry too much about your BB. Last year I stacked it hard just off piste and didn't think much of it until I went to take a picture over two hours later. Instead of my BB I found only a gaping and very empty pocket (having continually reminding my OH to zip up her pockets all week!!) Unbelievably and with a bit of assistance from a couple of friends I found it laying in a 'me sized' hole and it was absolutely fine! Shoppingwise (?) I'll just be happy if I can get my new boots to feel a bit more comfortable. Damn my funny shaped feet! And maybe a new hat....and perhaps some gloves......and....whichever bargains tempt me at TK Maxx! |

Insurance aside(!) we're all booked for Sauze for a week over Xmas. I dont know if I'm allowed to promote companies on here but I'll take the risk because it may help a few people out. We (OH and myself) booked with Nielson- Xmas week, B+B Hotel with transfers, 6 day ski school, ski hire (excl boots) and lift passes for £1300 all in. I sincerely hope nobody shoots me down in flames here because i think it was a great deal!
Trouble is that I'm packed and ready to go! Only 4 months to wait. |

Checked it out last night on BB storm using Opera browser. All seemed to work fine. Top work.

Never thought about having to pay up front- I bet helicopter doesn't come cheap either! Definitely worth thinking about though. (Un)Fortunately I have plenty of credit cards.
£600 each all in is the best I've found so far but I must admit I got slightly bored of Arinsal last year so it might have to be Sauze this time. Just found £660 all in- but hotel describes itself as basic and lively - sounds ominous! |

Thanks for the advice. At the risk of stoking the insurance debate fire I think i'll sort it out as i book the holiday- ie on the same day. Hopefully that will be the best compromise!
Sauze d'oulx seems to be coming up quite reasonable. Any reviews? Other than that Arinsal is looking to be a likely destination again- DIY this time! I've priced up to about £1200 all in for the two of us. This includes apartment, flights, trans, ski school, lift pass and ski hire. Its the ski school which kills the price but we still have a lot to learn! That said the odd private lesson may suffice but ski school is good fun as well and my OH still isn't confident when tackling new runs without an instructor. Right, back to looking for deals. |

I bought some boots for the first time a couple of months ago- great isn't it!
They had a bit of trouble because I have strange shaped feet (wide and high instep) but I followed the fitter's advice diligently and ended up buying far more expensive boots than expected (Tecnica Dragons). To be fair, they did try some of the cheaper ones first but they were agony. I went for the custom moulded soles too and as far as I can tell they are money well spent. They also remoulded the shell for me(on the outer side by my little toe) which made a big difference. However, I think this needs to be done a bit more because my two 'littlest' toes go a bit numb after a while- and bear in mind i haven't actually ski'd on them yet. Think I'll head off to the snow dome for a test soon- they will make any alterations as part of the after-care so that's a bonus. |
