I got my card about 3 days after I had applied on the website, you need to load it with an initial £10 (or EUR can't remember) and then can load away up to 5K at a time (useful if your in France LOL), have had no problems whatsoever it is basically a visa debit card but has pre-loaded funds that have been converted into EUR. I know the Post Office offer a similar card however they have restrictions on loading (£250 a day or some other small amount if you go on the lash) and i remember not having a text service to load and check your balance which is great as you avoid costly calls back to the UK. My only reservation was who is Caxton but 2 years in and all is ok - also i think they are regulated by UK authorities and therefore covered by the bank guarantee as per your normal bank account.
Ski Hire -what to look for?

The BBR's certainly look interesting -thanks TH, after less than half an hour searching around google I think I am even more confused than when I started, obviously each reviewer has their own opinion on what you should be looking for. I think AllyG makes a great point - don't judge a book by its cover - and try and talk to the guys in the shop about where you are and what you want to do/go. I think I will email the shop and enquire about the BBR's either way they may take me a bit more seriously if they think I am searching for the top, or maybe they will just think I am a nob and give me the jellopy skis.
Ski Hire -what to look for?

That's exactly my issue I am not sure what the difference should be between to performance or premium ski and the standard ski, to be honest if they gave me skis and smiled and nodded at them and me (as usual) I would probably just get on with it!!

They are just like using your debit card at home in effect it is like having a EUR bank account, so you can use them in shops etc as a debit card and also in cash machines for cash. The exchange rate is fixed at the time of transfare and there are no extra charges. You can load them at any time via your phone, text or the web with a link to your UK bank account, any unspent funds can be transfared back to your current account once you get home. Simples

I use a Caxton FX currency card, the money is transfared at a better rate than your bank will and there is no extra charge for withdrawal. It can also be loaded direct from your UK bank account by phone, text or on the web. Has saved me on all sorts of sur-charges. They have a card for EUR and USD and also a worldwide card so options for any currency. It was the top recommendation on money saving expert site.
Ski Hire -what to look for?

Hi all, I am off to Tignes this year and now in my 5th season, after a few years of lessons last year was my first without, being able to tackle all but the scariest of blacks. When the time came to book ski hire this year I plummed for the premium ski on the website thinking whilst it cost a bit more the kit should be better than the standard skis. Firstly in your opinion is this worth doing? Secondly what exactly should I be looking for to ensure that I am indeed getting premium skis for the week?
Was in Cervinia last Feb but stayed in a hotel not CM. Quite a lively little town but not the prettiest I've seen. Bit of a walk upto the lift if you are not very close by, can't remember seeing CM hotel location, however there are some useful and cheap ski lockers at the top of the main cable car. Skiing is great unless the weather is bad then there is no cover from the wind and the white stuff, the lifts can be closed a fair bit if windy, that can make the bottom slopes quite busy. If you get up to the top, Plateau Rosa there is a 11km run down to Valtournenche which is spectacular.
