We saw beautiful glistening particles floating in the air in La Tania recently ....we called it "fairy dust". Just found out is is in fact a phenomenon rarely seen outside the arctic called "Diamond Dust".

Skiing now for 42 years - I bought my helmet 2 years ago for the same reason as stated before... my children questioning why they had to wear one and I didn't. Just come back from skiing with a group of mixed ability ladies - all now wearing a helmet. We noticed that in the groups of skiers we saw on piste they either all did or all didn't. Having said that - it keeps my ears beautifully warm and I don't notice it. Why not be safe! (One of our girls had recently skied in Serre Chevalier where her ski instructor questioned the fact that she wore a helmet - it would seem it was a very Non helmet resort!)

I'm in La Tania at the moment. One of our group had some skis taken probably by accident) outside a restaurant.. and another pair left in their place! The local hire shop have been LESS than helpful. It is so frustrating. We've had to go the police in Meribel (they were taken in Les Menuiires) to report the loss and now she has had to hire another pair. She is insured but it has made us all check our policies!

I do to. I have yet to find a good solution. At times I have to take my boots and socks off and put my poor white toes on a hand warmer! It's agony! I have just found a pair of socks in a local sports shop endorsed by Graham Bell called Heat Holders. I'll let you know.. going skiing at the weekend!

Have skied in Montchavin for the last 4 years and completely agree with all said. We used Rental Republic (as we were staying with their now demised sister company Ski Republic) and highly recommend them - they were the cheapest ski hire we had experienced in ages. Paul Coyle & Andy Smedley - always helpful. Definitely get the Full Pass - Paradiski... you are in the best place to chose Les Arcs or La Plagne... and ski both - superb skiing area. If you need lessons - ask for Seb Ragotin or his chum Rudi. Their English is perfect and are both excellent instructors. They are ESF.
