It is definitely good for all abilities and high but, a word of warning with the warm weather approaching, my eldest had a school trip booked at easter last year and they changed it to Serre Chevalier a week before the holiday. A lot lower but held the snow. Looking at the webcams was shocking, the slopes were green! There are a lot of good, high, snowsure resorts to suit your abilities. I'd also look at Val Thorens, Tignes, Obergurgl  , Cervinia...

My boys are skiers but they'd been nagging me to board since I can remember. I gave in to them in December prior to a holiday at Christmas and booked them lessons at MK. They picked it up very quickly (much quicker than those in the class new to snow) and then in resort they enjoyed three days of boarding/falling on their backsides before going back to skiing. They would both still like to do some boarding but they don't have the same love. Maybe the same could be said vice versa but I don't know many people who have switched from board to skis.
We did two lots of two hour lessons at MK that took them to level 4 (turning on the main slope) which, if I remember rightly, totalled about £100 per head. If she goes for a board make sure she has wrist protectors as the bones are much more fragile that young (also coccyx protection, it's very painful!). Hopefully she'll love whatever she chooses and will be whooping by the end of the week :D |

wonderful, thanks. I'll look up these places
Snowbandit's told me about the ice bar at the top of the ardent bubble too which I've yet to find on a piste map but won't stop until I do as it sounds like my kinda place! xx |

Dave Mac, you're going to Obergurgl?! |

Thanks guys. My workload doubled a couple of years back and I had no time on my hands (that's sorted now thankfully). Also, I'm afraid, I lost passion after a bad time of it in Selva last season. However, ever persistent as I am, I gave blading a go on the last two days in Val Thorens at Christmas and really enjoyed the second day. So, another new discipline for me
Gentle tree lined slopes sound right up my street Bandit  Robauxgets - I'd missed that there was an Irish bar. Decision made! |

Hello everyone. Long time no speak, hope you're all well :D
I've managed to get a sneaky 4 night trip to Les Gets in with three girlfriends and wanted a bit of advice. I know that it's very family orientated, we're not looking to go mad but would like to find the bars/restaurants that would be most lively for a bit of apres or dinner? Any idea where would be best to spend Paddy's night? As some of you know, I'm not the strongest skier (despite tons of practice!). What are the runs like to and from Morzine? Thanks xx |

We had a brilliant result this year with a catered chalet for 27 at £430 ph. It was a Neilson holiday found for me by an agent [who'd I'd recommend but the lady who helped me isn't there anymore and the others aren't quite so helpful ]. Our discount equated to something like one in four places free.
Someone like Iglu cover most of the operators. I've had someone very helpful there before too. Once you've found a suitable place you've all got to pay a deposit and then people are committed. I'd highly recommend you get a package ie: flights, transfers and accommodation and then get everyone to book their own passes, hire, etc. I'm already onto next year's. Glutton for punishment  |
