Its good to see someone supporting 'low level' skiing for a change. We live in Radstadt in the heart of the Ski Amade region 45 mins from Salzburg. Our local slope starts at 850m. I have a constant battle with the Brits, who are very heightest! Height isnt everything!

Take last season as an excellent example. We all know Europe had a poorest snow record for 100 years, yet, at our height of 850m, we were open at the beginning of December unlike many places in France and we stayed open all season.

Some of the higher places such as Obertauren which is up the road from us, had excellent snow, yet the visability was often very poor as you were in a cloud.

We also have tree lined slopes. It is all very beautiful and shouldnt be dismissed on account of not being very high. Lets face it - if it didnt snow here then we wouldnt have a massive ski network - or put in bids to host the winter Olympics (allbeit we lost).
9th December....Got a week off!

Hiya - There will certainly be skiing available within the Ski-Amade region in Austria.

With over 850km of ski piste on one pass you are bound to fins some good spots...

Zauchensee and Flachau Winkl are sure bets but then with the Austrian efficency I expect there will be tons available!

Take a look at www.skiamade.com for more info or follow my link below...and we have a special offer!
I also recomend Austria - but I am bias!

The ski-Amade region near Salzburg is fanatstic for all kinds of skiing.
The ski-pass itself is Austria's biggest with over 860km of skiing available.

We live in Radstadt (follow our link at the bottom for more info) at about 900meters. Radstadt is the home of Austria's only floodlit sledge run. It is 3km long from the top of the mountain to the bottom...and the gondola lift still runs into late evening so no walking uphill all the time!

It is a fantastic place to come as a family as there is plenty of on and off piste activites....
I have been having a look at what is on offer and can't decide!

The choices are;
PyeongChang, South Korea
Salzburg, Austria
Sochi, Russia

It would be great to have the Winter olympics in Europe after only 8 years away! Especially as my home town and surrounding towns are hosting events.

Got a feeling that South Korea will get it though - just to politicaly keep them happy and their moral nice and high!!
