I ski tour with people in the 70's and 80's, they can still climb a 1000m and ski down. Personally, 25 years and somewhere over 150 weeks at a guess |

I like Seefeld as well, a friend lives there so I go from time to time. One of the prettiest places in Austria I think and there's some stiff competition.

I realize you're trying to promote a business there but I've not been wildly impressed by the snowshoe trails around Nendaz or nearby. There's 3 or 4 marked trails and the terrain's not ideal for much more, that's really not a lot compared to many places, in total it's not more than 20km or so which isn't a lot at all. It's no worse than many other big name ski stations where non-ski activities are barely an afterthought though.
It doesn't really compete with places like Grindelwald, Kandersteg and so on for alpine charm or non ski activities. |

Skiers pay less per kilo for their gear than anyone else, that's a fact, you can conclude whatever you want from that.

I think that's probably exactly what they're doing, I suspect some of the new limits on ski weights are based on their experience that 100 ski bags ought to be weighing in at under 1000kg or so and because they're stuffed with other stuff are way over weight for which the airline picks up the tab. I think there's a bit more going on with long haul, once you've hauled it up in the air the marginal cost isn't so high for each extra km for a start but airlines are looking at fuel costs there as well. They've reduced packaging on in flight meals, got lighter cutlery and so on, seemingly small stuff but they've been shaving 1000's of kg off loads. I wouldn't bet that luggage isn't scrutinized more closely in future. It should still be fine, you get 30kg or more mostly on long haul so you ought to be able to shift everything in that weight. I know some Ryanair and Easyjet flights are 90% skiers but that's during the winter which is their slack time, skiers don't come close to being a majority over the year as a whole. |

That sounds a con, when I book TGV journeys from here the price is the same a couple of weeks before as it is a couple of days before and I don't bother making seat reservations. I don't travel on weekends as a rule though.

That sounds a bit steep.
The TGV from Paris to Chamonix should be around 200 quid for two people. The bus from Chamonix to Courmayeur should be about 20 euro's return and then I think you can use a Swiss Transfer Ticket for about 70 or 80 quid a go plus some change for a train from Chamonix to Vallorcine to get into Switzerland. Really, the whole schedule is bad, Courmayeur and St Mortiz are great but as a taster for European skiing but I could have picked better places with better transport links. I can't help wondering if I shouldn't be offering this as a service if all that's needed is booking hotels and transport, if I don't have to do any other work that's not a bad business. |
