Songs to Ski to

When the pistes aren't busy and you're having a solo session it can be nice to put a soundtrack to your skiing.

I was just wandering what songs you guys like to listen to when on the slopes?
Push yourself or be comfortable?

Cheers for the replys guys. I went with the majority advice and put myself down as intermediate. I'm sure if it really is too slow they can move me up but like Bandit said, I might just be "surviving" in the advanced group which wouldn't be fun really and the other guys might get annoyed if I slow them down.

So excited but it's not until Febuary!

This year is going to be my second year skiing after last trip's great success at getting me addicted. I really enjoyed it last time and am very excited about going again!

I was thinking though, last year I picked it up pretty quickly and after my 2nd day I was moved up into the advance group as I was progressing very quickly. I found the first day in it pretty challenging and after the third day I was feeling pretty comfortable on reds and some black sections. The group however was quite mixed ability so I wouldn't actually call it a true advanced group, more of an intermediate to advanced.

This year though the advanced group will be a proper advanced group but I'm not sure whether to put myself down for the advanced or intermediate group. I think I'd find the advanced group quite challenging as they'll be tackling blacks from day one. In the intermediate group I don't think I'd be challenged too much but I'd be able to ski comfortably and learn at a comfortable pace.

I was just wandering what you guys would reccomend?
using a drag lift

Well I have some advice.

I'm really comfortable with using drag lifts and I believe it is because I started on a small easy one which gave me confidence and taught me what to do so after that it was pretty natural.

Another tip is to look at your skis so you can keep them parrallel and going straight and keep them in the tracks other people have made as this will help guide you along. Don't forget to keep checking the route ahead as well though.

On the faster ones make sure you are confident at getting on them as if you are not ready the initial tug can topple you pretty easily. Also lean forwards as you would when skiiing to keep your balance.

Hope this helps!
Cheapest Way to go?

Thanks for the info guys. Sadly that holiday isn't for enough people otherwise that would have been great. We can probaly get a group of plus 10 to go so do you think there is any chance of getting some discount for having a large group?

Hey guys, haven't been on here in a while. Browsed the forums a bit in the summer when my skiing hormones picked up a bit :P. This year me and my friends, we're students so money is on the low side, really want to go skiing and were wandering what is the cheapest way to go skiing in France. We are willing to stay anywehere basically! We're looking to go for about 5-7 days.

So does anyone ave any ideas?

Thanks!

If your skis do 'pop' off, don't forget to check that the rear part of the binding is in the down position. Sometimes after a release the binding can stay up in it's 'closed' position and you could end up spending hours trying to get your boot back in again!

That's exactly what happened to me when I ended up falling over! I'll know for next time though. Only 2 weeks from Friday until I go!! I'm rather excited!

What sort of level skier are you?

I'm a complete begginer at the moment but I hope to be a slightly more experienced begginer before I go! I hope my skis don't fall off too often when I'm there because it was quite difficult getting it back on!
