I see you have now booked in Moena so this is fairly irrelevent but, if you are ever planning on going again, do give the Cesa Padon a go, it is probably the best small hotel that I have ever stayed in. the hotel is run by a brother & sister, she runs front of house, he runs the kitchen, I can honestly say that the food was fantastic, staff were very friendly & if this hotel was in a more convenient place you would be paying a lot more than they charge at the moment. Transport to the slopes is arranged with a shuttle bus running every morning & evening. This hotel is not the place to stay if you wish to party every night but, if you just want superb food in lovely surroundings & a quiet glass or 2 of wine in the evenings, then this is the place.

hi Rich, If staying in Selva then try the Hotel Friena, great hotel with excellent food, right on the sella ronda route. or this year we stayed in the Cesa Padon about 5 miles down the hill from Arabba, very reasonably priced (about 60 euros a night half board) the food is fantastic & there is a hotel skibus that transports you too & from the slopes, a really nice family run hotel. I wouldnt advise staying in Arabba itself, not much going on. good luck.

Hi Dolomite first timer,
The advice that you have been given is spot on, arraba has definitely got the pick of the expert slopes. It is quite possible however to stay in the resorts on either side also (Corvara,Canazei) provided that the sellaronda is open. There are also decent reds & blacks at Ciampac (Canazei) & La Villa (Corvara) also the world cup downhill at Selva (Val Gardena). Unfortunately there is not much in the way of chutes & couloirs due to the nature of the mountains, however the stunning beauty & excellent local hospitality more than makes up for this. I would suggest that you look at bed & breakfast or small hotel accommodation on the local websites, they are very good value & normally of good standard, I am afraid I am not aware of any hostels. Enjoy the trip, I hope to get there at least once this winter. Regards Pete |
