skiing info in Ellmau

Hey Russco-I am also heading to Ellmau over that weekend! You will have just missed the downhill race in Kitzbuhel (20th) which is what I am over there for. The person I am travelling with, her mum used to work in Ellmau and said it is beautiful. They also said that if the snow is bad (at only 900m) it is easy to travel over to other resorts which are slightly higher. For ski pass and hire, try this shop http://ellmau.skiset.co.uk/ before you go. They give a discount if you get say ski's+boots+helmets together. Not sure about the pass as yet. Have fun!!! Katie

Thank you all for your suggestions...I am working my way through them having a good look at all of them :D Hopefully my mum will have a look to, otherwise it will be another year in covara!
which resort?!

Hey All,
I am trying to find a resort that suits my whole family! Basically it has to suit my mum the most, she is a beginner skier in the fact that she doesn't have much confidence. We have skied in Covara, Italy a few times now, and she likes the wide open blue runs which run the whole way back to the village. However my sister, dad and myself are all a bit bored of the runs, and especially me and my sister are comfortably doing reds and starting blacks.
To suit us all, it has to have long blues, reds and blacks but not a huge area that is well known and gets crowed (another thing my mum hates). It doesn't have to be a large resort but enough restaurants or village feel to keep us occupied for a week. We are not bothered about transfer time as we travel by train a lot anyway so it's not exactly quick!
We would be travelling mid feb, so a higher resort would be ideal but not necessary.
Please help!!!
Dave-I know! 25 euros....i'm sure it will be worth it :D I'm staying in ellmau so thinking of getting the bus over early in the morn-do you think thats wise? I know there will be a LOT of people! Heading to the downhill, then skiing sunday and monday. I don't know if you've booked flights already but mine were very cheap-£49 gatwick to innsbruck (BA fri 20th) and £55 munich to manchester (easy jet mon23rd)
Kitzbuhel for the Hahnankamm YAY. Just for a long weekend but I can't wait! And...it's sorta on the cheap....being a student and all ;)

Have you though about obergurgl in austria? I haven't been myself but a family I know have recently been there who wanted easy slopes and had a great time. The village it's self is very pretty, is snow sure, and if you can get a flight to Innsbruck then it isn't a long transfer.
Hahnenkamm....

Hey everyone.
I'm trying to book hotels/hostels/whatever I can get now! I just wanted to know, as Kitzbuhel seems to be almost booked, do the ski lifts run as normal during hahnenkamm week? Thinking of staying near by jochburg and heading across in the morn on the lifts...
Any other advice welcome about it! Or if anyone has any accommodation they want to rent out :D Feel free to let me know!!!
Thanks all,
katie
