Hi there, like AliG I too have a question about rental...this time inVallandry. I've heard the Ski Set in the apartments I'm staying in are rubbish. Does anyone have a recommendation? I was looking on Ski Republic's website...wonder if anyone has used them? Cheers. :D

Did you get some decent accommodation? Everything good seems to be quite out of town. Would normally be fine with 'basic' but its hubby's birthday so we are trying to go for something a bit nicer this time. Have a great time. I still havent decided..!

Well guys - thank you so much! Most of what you say confirms my now very lengthy research!! 1800 does look better for beginners but nice accommodation seems a bit sparse (or maybe I just havent found it yet, will keep digging). Agree the height of Villandry may be an issue early on - so maybe its 1950 or 1800 - thanks so much for your help. Nothing like a bit of first hand knowledge in helping to make the decision. Happy skiing!

Hi all = we are a group of 7 completely mixed abilities with two complete beginners thinking about Les Arcs for New Years 2012. Reading all the info, I like the look of Vallandry but can anyone tell me what facilities there are for complete beginners. Also, we have one not too confident intermediate - how difficult is it to get back to Vallendry from up the mountain - it looks like there are lots of blues, but can anyone tell me how difficult they are. Any info would be great. Many than ks. :?:
Great report - interesting recommendations. Going to ADH for the FOURTH time in half term - will unfortunately expect queues but will def. try the Edelwiess restaurant!! Agree the beers in Bergers are usually hideously expensive so will venture up to Pacific!! Cheers
Hi there, sympathise because I have arthritic ankle, long op on this in 2010 and then, just getting back to skiing last year and broke my arm...no probs with ankle at all...just random fall at the end of a run..b ut like you this year feeling a little lacking in confidence. So...going to alpe d'huez. Have been there a few times before and decided it has enough easy runs to get me started again. Lots of long greens, easy blues and reds by Friday. I really hope you get back on the slopes in an enjoyable way and have a great season...best wishes and ave a look at alpe dhuez.

If you dont have winter tyres and get stuck its a terrible faff trying to get the showchains on in a really bad downpour and if you are on your way to a days skiing you end up with manky dirty, cold hands a wetter than necessary back and a foul mood!! Get the tyres.
