Hi all and greeting from Niederau,

As a result of the global financial meltdown I understand that the good people (and Tony_H) who frequent J2Ski could do with some financial relief!

As a genuine and special offer to J2Skier I am happy to offer a 20% discount from our standard prices.

To take advantage of this offer go to our website (http://www.auhof.co.uk) and follow the link to online bookings. When you have selected the apartment and dates you require you will be presented with a screen offering you the chance to enter a “Discount Code”. Enter J2SKI (all caps) and hit “refresh quote” … you now have your discount!

Sorry but I’m going to have to limit this to the 1st 20 bookings …

Happy hols,

All at the Auhof!

No smoking in Austria

Sadly smoking is (for the time being) alive and well in Austria.

However, we operate a 100% non-smoking apartment house and if you read the blog on our website you'll see that I actually evicted a guest for smoking OUTSIDE :) We believe that nature provides enough stimulation and/or relaxation in the mountains to make nicotine redundant!

I don't know what the rule changes are and whether anyone will obey them if they do come in but for this season anyway the smokers continue to inflict their noxious fumes all over me wherever I go :(

Hi Mark,

Well who indeed?

We print off a J2Ski weather report for our guests each morning and it's very interesting to see how wildly things change from about 6 or 7 days out to how it is on the day.

Take next Sunday (27th Jan) for example, the forecast at the moment says 55cm 8) (Great! except for our car park which will need a good snow blow!) Yesterday it was only 39cm and I suspect as the week goes on it will fluctuate up and down.

What I can say is that the J2Ski forecasts for "today" are normally fairly accurate. I have used quite a few other sites and not found any that are more accurate than here.

Good luck for your journey!

Pav,

As long as I am lucky enough to have (clean) air in my lungs I will not have smoking in my home.

Thank you for your emotive contribution and I hope it acts as an incentive for just one person to heed your excellent advice.

A very long life to you!

The Auhof

p.s. But what about the question pre-determining the outcome? We should be educated … We need your expertise … Speak so that we may learn!

Thanks everyone who has voted and or expressed an opinion :-) I’m glad that the general agreement seems to be that smoking is not a welcome activity.

Now the question is: If I did the same survey but this time took a positive view of smoking, expressed my support for it and asked how many people would like to stay in a smoking apartment house, would I get the same high level of support for smoking. i.e. will I get the result that the question seems to support ??

I have no doubt Pavel will help us understand the background to this type of conundrum!

Thanks again all,

The Auhof

Hi All,

We open our family home (in Niederau, Tirol, Austria) to other families during the winter and summer seasons on a self catering basis.

We have 10 apartments which sleep between 2 and 6 giving a total occupancy of about 40 guests.

We believe that there is a section of the ski market that is attracted by the opportunity to live in a non-smoking environment.

The question I would like to ask is, “Are we right?”

So please vote and let us know if a non-smoking environment is attractive or not?

Best wishes,

Pav will be happy to know that I finally accepted Santa's offer of a set of ski servicing vices (vici?)

Now to see just how much difference they make :)

Happy clamping,
