hey all,
heading to fernie for the season though might be chilling in vancouver prior to the season.

where is the best place to get preferably last seasons gear in canada. seem to remember something about a big sale in vancouver before season starts but am unsure.

any advice would be appreciated! thanks peter.
Hey all,

I am looking to work the snow season and would be keen to share a house with others, rather than hostel.

I'm cashed up and can pay rent in advance.

I'm looking to board heaps and would be good addition to house, as i cook and clean and am easy going.

Let me know if anyone's looking at getting something together.

Thanks.
pete.

Hey all,

Just (another) query, hopefully it mite help someone else as well...

Was just wondering about working in either banff/whistler, and as I am travelling before i get there...

1. is it possible to get jobs before you land there? how is this done?

2. i'm ideally looking for shared room accommodation, how is this done? would rather stay there than in a hostel.

Thanks so much peepz.

Work/Board Canada 08 - questions

Hey all,

Was just wondering about working in Banff for 08 snow season. I will be travelling beforehand and don't want to carry my board around the world.

1. What do most do when they get there apart from those that take their own boards..... How much is a board/bindings/boots new vs second hand? Where do you buy these things second hand?

2. If i go for the job fair in banff and say get a job. Do i then wait for about one month till the season starts? What do people do in this time??

Thanks again people. pete

Hey all,

I am looking to work in Canada in the 08/09 season, which at this stage is looking like Banff. I like the sound of a more intimate township rather than commercial, expensive whistler (though i could be dissuaded).

I have a couple of questions that some might be able to help me with:

1. Should i get there for the job fairs or go just before season?

2. When i get a job, is it correct that on mountain employers would provide seasons pass? What sort of employers provide accommodation?

3. If i get a job in town then i guess i would be buying my seasons pass and paying for my own accommodation?

4. The RCR pass covers 4 mountains. Does the tri pass have a season pass that covers LL, Fernie and Sunshine?

5. THinking of buying a car with a friend (shitbox) and driving between mountains, this a good idea?

6. I'm probabaly going to be buying all my gear in canada, board/boots/jacket/pants/gloves. How much would I be looking at?

7. LL seems to far better than kimberly and that other mountain n-something. Fernie seems a further drive. Would you get sick of LL for a season as intermediate boarder?

8. Is there anywhere else people would recommend to work that isn't so well known with township (parties), great terrain etc.

Thanks so much people, overload of questions.
Any feedback would be awesome. Pete.
