Don't forget the big Shatzberg area above Auffach, all covered by the Niederau ski pass. Mostly wide reds but with a couple of blacks, some moguls, fun in the gullies, a boarder park with jumps, grinds and half pipe, and plenty of powder opportunities too.

Don't know about those blades in the powder tho'.....

Yes, I'm in Leeds and the flood warnings are out.

Arriving Saturday (and staying at the Vicky too - apologies to everybody in advance), scouring the net for weather info and I'm already carving turns in my sleep.

Can't wait.

Ah yes, a luxury indeed. I think the Zulus liked to keep it all for themselves.

See you in the Bichlhof this weekend!
goggles or glasses

I definitely agree with the "both goggles AND glasses" advice.

A few weeks ago I was in the Tchibo franchise of a local Savacentre (Leeds White Rose) and they were selling wraparound sports glasses with interchangeable lenses for half price - less than a fiver! If I remember rightly they were grey, mirrored and yellow. I wish I'd got a couple of pairs. There's no sign of them on Tchibo's website. Anyone know if they've got any left?

Hi all,

Arriving 19th January for week.

This is the first time we will have had a chance to actually ski in Niederau although I have visited the village a couple of times before. The wife and I are experienced skiers (Kitzbuhel, Westendorf, Soll etc., France and Switzerland), but we are not particularly good. I never really converted properly onto carving skis, while the boss has lost some of her confidence in recent years and we are a bit too long in the tooth for group lessons. So, any recommendations for a few hours personal instruction?

Also, I think the Hahnenkamm Men's Downhill is on the 20th. Anyone heading over to Kitzbuhel for the race?

Finally, what's the best bet for apres for a couple of ageing indie rockers with far too many Tyrolean evenings under our belt than can possibly be healthy.

Looking forward to the 19th,

Cheers,
Stubbsy
