So where are the ski bargains

You could always think about avoiding the TO's... bag a 'cheap' flight - maybe mid-week to mid-week and book somewhere on the tourist info sites for your accommodation.
BnB can be found for under €30 pp, half-board can be found for under €40... plus cheap stuff on the slopes!
Saalbach has a good record main season.
It can be a bit sloppy nearer the Easter Hols but as it is pretty early this year I'm sure you will be fine.
A couple of years ago Easter was quite late. The nursery runs were a bi stodgy but still fab to learn on as they offered a soft cushion to land on!
There are many group trips from the UK during this period. Lots of PGL trips and other groups rock on up in the coach load. So the nurseries are quite busy.

Easter is normally quite quiet around here.
There only seems to be waits of about 10min during the half-term hols...

I recommend Zauchensee / Flachau Winkl ski areas withing Ski Amadé. Massive long blues and reds. Flachau Winkl has excellent top to bottom family slopes plus parks and much more. Only 45 min from Salzburg... cheap on the mountain... and some pretty good accommodation out there (even if I do say so myself!)

Austria: where to go

Have been to Schladming for the past 5 years and have to declare that there are a couple of annoying T bars required to get back from the Haiber to the Planai which is a bit of chore but do not let that put you off. There are four mountains that are all linked together. You can ski to the bottom to the resorts at all of them.

Not any more!...
Planai have pu in a new chair that replaces the need for this T bar. I think they are keeping 1 of them though although it is just 'extra'.

In Amadé you only tend to get ques on the peakest of peak times in the peakest of peak areas.... Flachau is normally the worst.... but we are talking 10min first gondola type thing...
I've been tringmst to compile a facebook application... but it is rubbish!

See... I told you it was rubbish!
For April it needs to be high up, so Obergurgl, Verbier, Zermatt or Val Thorens. I'd personally suggest Verbier having been there early April 2008.

And what exactly is high up?... I love hightism! Is 1200m high up? 'cos that is about the height I will be skiing in April.... (have done the last 3 years anyhow
I haven't had time to read all the thread so am not sure if this has been mentioned....
Last season a guest came to stay with me with the weirdest looking thing I had seen... the skimojo.

He reckons he can ski only 2 or 3 hours a day without it and certainly can't keep up with his mates.
This thing takes a lot of the weight from your knees but still keeps it directed onto your boot/ski. So your knees and legs get a bit of a break.
Apparantly too much rugby can be bad for your skiing!
