Bulgaria joined the EU on 1st jan this year but won't go into the Euro until 2010 earliest. Take sterling to change into Leva or use the ATMs.

Its been a funny season this year. I went 9th - 17th March and conditions weren't great. However since then they have had good dumps of snow with more forecast and its looking really good there.

Does anyone have any info on this resort in the Massif Centrale area. Friend of mine going there in Feb and the only site he can find doesn't have a piste map available to view.

Probably not too much in fairness but it is a real town. There is a church she could have a look round if she would be interested. They welcome visitors. Lots of restaurants to go and have lunch in. She could get a pass just for the gondola and go up and admire the scenery and there are bars and restaurants at the top of the gondola so with the right footwear she could get up the mountain. Maybe you could meet up for lunch.

Do people go to Europe skiing at Xmas expecting good snow. Yes it may happen but the reality is you have paid a lot of money and may not be able to ski.

Leave it till later when you have a much better chance of good conditions.

Its much like going to places like Greece in April/May expecting hot weather, its too early and its not going to happen.

Just my opinion folks but I am tired of hearing people on various forums getting stressed at the lack of snow when it is a big gamble if you go early.

Personally I would stay in Banff and get buses to Sunshine and Lake Louise. They are really organised and I didn't find it a problem. Then in the evening you have all the bars and restuarants in Banff to enjoy.

Hi

If the snow is good I would recommend Niederau in Austria. Very easy lower slopes make it great for beginners to gain confidence. The slight downside is that it is low altitude. I had 2 holidays there, the first with excellent snow, the second not. February should be OK though.

Aspen looked really bare but Lake Louise looked fab.

Skied in Lake Louise and Sunshine Village from Banff and the snow there is just the best.
