Morzine/Avoriaz and alot of the Portes du Soleil is open until the 27th April.
If you stay in Morzine it's just over an hour from Geneva. |

On the other hand, friends of mine rave about Samoens, and head over there for a treat when they have had enough of Morzine....
aparently it is especially good for off piste, but having never been I'm not sure! Also heard people complaining tha Morzine isn't party enough  - so I guess it is all down to personal preference.... |

It shouldn't be as busy as it usually is either week - the French schools aren't on holiday and English schools are only getting the bank holidays off with two weeks hol later in April. The first week will probably be the least busy of the two as you are only getting one bank holiday...

Hi Darren
With flights to Geneva you can access the Portes du Soleil area in just over an our. There are tons of small companies offering a bespoke service in Morzine, Les Gets and the surrounding areas. As a town in it's own right (as opposed to a purpose built ski resort) Morzine has a lot going on for the non skier too. Another nearby good place for non skiers is Chamonix, although I don't think the skiing really lends itself well to beginers. Jo |

Most places will be pretty busy during this time of year - but you should be able to avoid most of the crowds if you are a bit savvy about where you ski!
Somewhere with a choice of main uplifts, rather than one which develops a bottleneck, usually means that the ones further away are relatively queue free and if you head off away from the beginers areas and don't fallow the popular circuits you can avoid crowds for most of the day. Good idea to bring a car then you can head off in different directions to take advantage of the conditions on a day to day basis and don't forget that Saturday is change over day most places so can be the quietest day on the mountain! Try looking for a small company with good local knowledge - and then make use of this knowledge! Jo |
