We are planning on having a day in Courmayeur, we did this last year, it was amazing the difference in snow quality the other side of the tunnel. So you think its 1.5 hour drive to Verbier. Le Chable is better than going to Nendaz or another point to access the lifts

Hi
We are skiing again in the Chamonix valley next month. I want to go up the grand montet area as weve not been there before as it all looks very steep. Looking for some chalenging but not impossibly steep skking, we are good red run skiers. Is this area good?

Is the itinery black run point du vue expert only, i'd like to try it as the views sound spectacular, but dont want us to get stuck on it.

Any one got any comments?

Hi
We want to go to verbier for a day trip from Chamonix valley on the MBU lift pass next month. Where would anyone recommend parking for quick access to the lift system and slopes.

Also if we got just one day where should we head for a good day skiing, we are good red run skiers but as a family prefer long cruises rather than moguls/steeps.

Hi
I want to go to Verbier for a day skiing whilst on holiday for a week in Chamonix as its on the same lift pass MBU, we have a car with chains. Has anybody done this and can recommend the route and where best to park to access the lift system which looks abit un connected from the piste map.

Also any advice on where to spend a day skiing in Verbier/4 valleys, we are good red run skiers but looking more for long cruises than steeps.

Thanks for any advice.

Simple ski service, edge and wax
Started by Rob b in Ski Tuning Course, 7 Replies
We normally have our ski's serviced and waxed in a UK ski shop before we go. This year our two kids now also have ski's so that makes 4 pairs.

I would like to service, edge and wax them myself. I have seen the tools etc in the shops but I cannot find a book or video on how to do it. Does anyone know where to find a simple guide or video on how to service ski's?

Thanks.
New Year near Evian north Alps

Thanks,
I did not know how long it would take to drive to Morzine (with mountain roads etc) so 30 mins is fine. I will look at the other connections you suggest on the maps. Do you have any other tips for this area?

By the way has anyone ever done New Years Eve in Thollon?
We have had 4 years of good family holidays in Alpe d huez (with Crystal and First Choice). All have been a success mainly as the kids clubs and esf ski school have been superb.
I have frends who have been to LDA and not gone back as they have covered the ski area in 3 days, this is not possible in Alpe d Huez as there is so much varied skiing.
To compare, I think the snow is very similar in both resorts, so is the travelling time and apres ski etc. Overall I would say Alpe d Huez wins due to the vast ski area. But to get the most from Alpe d Huez get around the far reaches of the ski map and avoid the easy access areas as they get busy.
