ski trax doesn't use data. but make sure you download it before you go unless you are on free wifi. I think there is a free and pay option and I have the pay option.
I really enjoyed using ski trax last year, except it drained my iphone battery crazy. Nice google earth like view and easy to take pics and share.
But I haven't tried anything else so don't know if it would be same battery issue for all.
oh and for a not-so-techy person, it was really easy to use :)

Serious matter though, check you've got adequate insurance cover. I get free travel insurance with my bank which extends free of charge to winter sports cover and its comprehensive enough for the majority of us. Don't assume your own is though.

Good bank you have. My credit card 'free' travel insurance was going to be more expensive to pay for the winter sprts extension than it was to buy a better benefits separate policy (form another company)

Well i certainly wouldn't want to put a needle and thread anywhere near my leather gloves but i would give it a whirl on some older ones for sure.

Too much faff, the don't work with gloves. Unless you have the sort with the metallic thread in the finger tips and i have yet to see a decent pair that do. They are normally very thin.

if you have a decent pair of gloves and someone who can sew, you can buy the thread to turn your good gloves into iphone gloves by just sewing a few stiches (try ebay search "thread gloves iphone")

I have deffo heard it all now

would you like me to sew your gloves into iphone gloves? I could do a J2Ski special rate
