Admin is quite correct the cheapest transfer is to hire a car, Altibus is approx 130euro each return and you may have to wait although car hire is not that cheap as you have to pay for parking in Val Thorens

Good detailed report and sorry to say you are definately not the first to ski that route although we missed out la masse
I have been fortunate enough to do 3 weeks this season in the 3V two in Meribel and last week in VT, Have been to VT about 15 weeks now and always thought what a great location, last year stayed in Meribel for the first time and then two weeks this year and have to agree with you middle valley every time, I know the area very well and for four days managed to ski around 50km a day and never skied the same run twice leading a group of 6 which I thought was a great achievement unfortunatley no one else noticed, up until last year had never gone into Meribel had always skied straight through Mottaret over to Courchevel huge mistake great runs from top of Olympic down to Raffort are wonderful and quiet conditions permitting Have already booked same chalet for next christmas in Meribel |

OK Snapzzz thats enough,
It was starting to look busy, when I first went to Morillon 10 years ago you did not hear English spoken very much, unfortunately more people are heading over there but no more, re conditions at Les Esserts only once in the last ten years have we come unstuck with conditions in Morillon at Christmas, at that time the lift company provided transport to Flaine and we drove to Avoriaz as Morzine and Les Gets were also green, as well as the rest of europe |

Have skied from the top of Peclet in Val Thorens at 02.00hrs after 4inches of fresh snow had come down we were hoping for a full moon but it was completeley black took an hour, first fall after 100yds this could have had something to do with the wine !
I must stress we were having dinner with the pisteurs a wonderful experience but at the same time with people who knew the mountain better than anyone ! |

Dave - I was remembering that it took me and my friend, who is only a blue piste skier, well over an hour to get from 1650 to 1550 on skis, but only 5 minutes on the bus
Did you get lost From Bel Air in 1650 you can ski to across to a chair (cant remember name) from which you can ski all the way down to 1550 going through 1850 all on blues from 1850 two chairs to Meribel Have skied from Orelle to Meribel in an hour Last trip mixed ability party managed to ski around 50km per day for 4 days never skied same run twice, based in Meribel covered 1850,1650 La Tania, VT, Orelle and Les Menuires always returned on different runs Back in VT in 6 sleeps |

Did you pay the extra for your existing lift pass not all are POS passes, only these can be reloaded
I am not sure about the 20% off on Saturdays I have a 3v liberty pass which does give 20% off Saturdays but I had to pay 30euro for this initially to benefit from the discounts I would suggest trying to load the card as you have suggested but beware it could end up costing you more, not sure if you can cancel once purchased Good luck |

There are a handful of restaurants/bars and a casino and the spa the journey is 20mins from Brides to Meribel, most of the apartments were purpose built for the athletes in the 1992 olympics, not exactly sure of the opening times but it opens earlier than the main lifts in the Chaudanne
If conditions are good you could ski down to Olympic 2 which is les Allues or not quite so far which is a nice red Raffort through the trees taking you down to Olympic 3 The telecabine is as quick as the car journey ! |
